Did they really just try to take their cavalry and -leave- right in front of the enemy fort? I know they are worried about the people in the forest...but cavalry is weak in the forest and strong in the open field...why would you move the cavalry...and they even have a whole 'ninja squad' they can move and figure out what it going on in the forest...but they send the cavalry...that's just dumb.

@WillLi Elven cavalry are good in forest And light cav should get only light penalty. Even in total war you can do that for fast recon and beat weaker quality unit. The way MC is using it as reserve as 2 potential battle happen.

@Kamelpov Cavalry would still lose effectiveness in the forest because they can't use their full speed well. If you only had cavalry you could make it work. But he actually has a whole unit tailored for recon and guerrilla warfare. (The green hair girl's squad) so using the Cav is just dumb when they're the main thing preventing the fort form charging their base. The archers can pick people off, but only if it's light units, any heavies could march in.

@WillLi He is MC he has a plot armor bonus +3 (all faction unit stats are powered up , -80 relation with other independant players,+20 with NPC), Friendship power buff like 3kingdom total war , And if he was wrong can always say i was baiting them(Overlord style "Sasuga Ainz").
Later you gonna see MOBA style combat with tree wall with comments and on a big screen😂😂Don't forget it's not a isekai just a game.
Balance may not be the same especially if cavalry has forest buff equipment like rangers.

@Kamelpov none of what you said though counters the point of my post though, that it was a dumb idea to move the cavalry to the forest when they have other more suited units for that and the cavalry had probably the second most important job in defending the basecamp.

@Kamelpov Umm the infantry is literally doing nothing <.< the base is being maintianed by the Engineers, and the archers are handling the protection with the cavalry. Regular infantry is literally sitting on their butts. You also have as I said Green hair girl's squad which is specifically for recon. Remember this isn't one giant army, each player has their own little squad.

@WillLi His squad is cav as you know his title. Infantry sitting is a good garrison for fort. Don't move MC and he won't have screentime. Also If i was MC i would drop minefield all around the fort out of their range. And the forest well putting ninja and wait...

@Kamelpov the Author can decide where the MC needs to be to get screen time. That's not an issue at all. And the infantry makes an okay garrison, but in these wide open plains where the enemy has archers, the cavalry makes an even -better- garrison. Also mines are a bad idea because they plan to siege the fort as soon as the some comes up, so once they start the siege the mines would be pretty much useless. Strategically speaking, leaving the Cav's to defend all night, while using the recon team to keep an eye on the forest (and maybe occasionally reducing their numbers but not directly attacking them) is the best option. And it's the best option by a long shot. Because it doesn't put you at any risk and leaves you in a position where you also have the most information. As opposed to the strat he just tried, that as you saw put them at a lot of risk.

They(4th party) use mine in the forest and prove how to do it
You know The first thing to do while sieging kill all sorties. it means put the same thing Julius Caesar do to gauls. But china use the less advanced edition with ballista and little fort while in japanese series they build a mini-castle. Mines are effective in every stand condition like siege or area denial. See stalingrad and tobruk. As you are the one that drop them you are advantaged if they try to counter attack or if you take the objective get a delaying solution but if you put beforehand you protect yourself against their sortie by making killzone. And this chapter give proof that moving cav is the best way to bait defender.
Also cav can always dismount for a while like I do and be a glorified infantry in particular case else better ignore as skilled mounted cav will always be superior to infantry in forest if we take leadership difference and Players impacting unit ability as long they don't have spearman usually you can delete them like in this case. Like Knight of the Grail in warhammer 2 usually delete nearly everything with their lance formation but that is an extreme case.
They (raider player in the forest) (2 player PK mercenary group : goal to kill MC army) one gonna ally with those in the fort and reducing their number prove it was the right solution And after the infighting they attack MC when he start the assault but his cav avoid their cav and destroy their poor archers.

@Kamelpov The reason the mines will be useless is once they start attacking no one will be leaving the fort to fall into the mines. You said a whole lot of fancy stuff, but the problem is you have a lack of understanding of actual application of tactics. The MC and co have control of the plains and cavalry as well as archers. Once they start firing the ballista it would be stupid to try and rush out of the fort unless they have other exits. So having minds set up in front of the fort wont do much good. It will do even less good if you march the infantry up to try and break down the fort door as well, cause your infantry would cover the mines. In short, there will likely be no 'counter attack' unless the MC messes up or baits one just for the lols

Also now you're applying other game mehanics to this, when this isn't the games you play. We don't know how cavs are counted when they dismount, for all we know they could be worse than trained infantry. This is a video game yes, but it's based more on realism and numbers and unit type don't mean everything when units clash. It's more about tactics and subtly, which means likely infantry would have an advantage in a dense forest. The infantry can literally just stand behind trees as the cavalry pass and pretty much the cavalry can't do anything unless they slow down, also the turning radius of a horse would be a massive problem.

In short stop thinking of this like games like Warhammer, because it's way different, it's more like real war.

And actually the bad guys allying with the fort proves my point correct. Because the only reason they got the time to ally with them is because the MC had to call back the cavalry because he had to defend against the raid from the fort, which only happened because the cavalry left in the first place. If he sent infantry the raid would've never happened, and his infantry would be in the forest right now. And even if the raid did happen, the cavalry would've still been there to stop it while the infantry can continue. And the comic itself shows the fort leader sending out the raid in direct response to the cavalry leaving. So we know for a -fact- that's what triggered the raid.

Are you sure about real war they gamified interrogation system. In the raw you even see People getting OP 1vs many and real life would say bullshit. As redhead gonna put a dynasty warrior feat later. As she is too dumb as leader she max out personal stat to make champion build and go yolo.

@Kamelpov It's more like real war than the kind of games you are focusing on, because there are physics in this. It's not just a bunch of numbers and calculations. A person can move behind cover, the fact that horses bounce when they move effects your attacking. So on and so forth. You can't just go "Well my cavalry has higher stats so if they attack this unit they win." Which was shown by the MC as well, you have to take 'physics' and the environment and 'morale' and 'emotion' into consideration in this game. Even if stats are still a thing.

@WillLi I give you a listing of IRL game that looks like that series but not VR : Tiger Knight, Conquerors Blade, Kingdom under Fire, Kingdom under Fire 2
Those game are many vs many and the player control a hero and bring units to battle. And "Well my cavalry has higher stats so if they attack this unit they win." apply as the only modifier in some of those game are only the unit formation (loose, tight, diamond, phalanx, turtle as example.)Beat the commander they rout every time.

@Kamelpov now your grammar is too hard to understand, but even what I can get out of it is pretty much irrelevant. The point is this 'game' doesn't behave like a game, it behaves more like a fantasy novel, physics and such are real things in it. So the tight confines of the forest are bad for horses cause they can't just turn on a dime, and the uneven ground would make hitting a target even harder while on horse back.

@WillLi Well you are right about that. But still skill level count (MC vs average red player). And ambush fast response unit use cavalry in forest nevertheless. Like german used tank and motorized/mechanized infantry in the ardennes. And in fact cav in forest is at the same level than infantry but efficiency/cost was bad as feeding horse and other maintainance cost added. If you do the mongol build you beat everyone in every terrain except castle, mountains. As long they didn't get siege engineers as proven by history facts.

@Kamelpov And that's why comparing it to games is bad. Not all forest are created equal. Just because the mongols did it doesn't mean it works everywhere. The forest in the areas the mongols were active in was relatively 'thin' so the horses had enough space to move at speed. More dense forest will make a problem. You have to realize a single horse requires a lot more space to maneuver than a single soldier does, especially when it gets up to speed. (Also it's worth noting that the mongols were not up against well developed tactics and armor most the time as well, a lot of their opponents were very unfamiliar with forest combat, kinda like the redcoats during the American revolutionary war.)

@WillLi You did reply to yourself they were unfamiliar with forest combat. MC is familiar with that as "best of the world" so why not.Red player in this one don't know how to use it really well too.
And this series is based on old times too not well developed tactic is here as it's mainly played by common teenagers that serve as hero officer. This game is around 700 ad by their tech look. Don't expect much modern knowledge applied in it. Else players would rush to the pike and musket army and pike and shoot tactic...
