@Steelbuck It's positively hilarious that you think there was anything righteous about about the MC's actions here. Slavery is completely despicable but he's not doing anything to fight against it. In fact he's supporting it. He was totally willing to pay for the elf girl, thereby encouraging slavery as an institution. The only reason he doesn't is because the price was too high for him. So he steals her instead...from the fat ugly bastard who bought her, not the slave merchant. After the slave merchant was presumably already paid. So the only one who loses is random fat ugly bastard and he's done nothing at all to discourage slavery.
Of course fat ugly bastard is drawn almost comically fat and ugly to make him easier to hate...but is he really any different from our MC? He's doing the exact same thing. Let's not forget that the MC has never spoken a single word to elf girl before. He just saw her and decided on his own he wanted her. Her opinion wasn't so much as even considered. And what did the MC want her for? Just to save her? BS, he wants her for the exact same reason as everyone else in that auction: as a sex object. Literally his entire goal from the start of his journey was to find women to impregnate. He then finds a beautiful elf slave and tries to buy her and we're seriously supposed to believe it was for some morally righteous reason?
Literally the only thing MC has over fat ugly bastard here is that he's not so fat and ugly. I guess that's something but it doesn't really do anything to make his position any better from a moral standpoint. But what makes him really infuriating is just how hypocritical he is about the whole thing. He acts like elf girl is just naturally his because he arbitrarily decided she was and then tries to pretend that fat ugly bastard was the one being 'arrogant'. There is zero self awareness here. FUB's claim to the girl is that he legally purchased her in an admittedly deplorable yet socially recognized system. MC's claim to the girl is that he decided on his own that she would be his...and that's it. But we're supposed to root for him for some reason...
Of course I'm sure elf girl will eventually fall in love with the MC because that's how these stories always go. But that hasn't actually happened yet. And just assuming it will to justify his actions is pretty much the epitome of arrogance.
