@Kampfarsch not, you're right, it's not that bad. This kind of chapter is actually a pretty good way to explain the other side of the fight without having to add a small flashback arc. The ending of teh match can be added in the next chapter if the author really wants to. But these chapters have already illustrated the scene well enough. Specially sice we already saw one of the strongest fighters on enemy side lose to mc's spy "drone"(Shikigami). We already knew MC was op from that fight, so his victory is pretty much expected.

@CountryMage The author didn't show that either. The only thing he showed was that the kid wanted to win.... like... that's literally it... he never showed anything about raising them wrong, instead, just randomly out of no where saying he did..

@deathmailrock wasn't just wanting to win, the kid can't believe they lost, they are the strongest there is, in his eyes, and glasses guy responds internally, that that is the sign of a great leader, someone who can be led by their subordinates...then he stops to think, how arrogant that sounds, and apologizes for being that kind of failure.

Again, no growth is required for this one, though it would have helped. His gut reaction to cringe kid, is 'yeah, that's the way it's supposed to go, I'm the best, and you'll go far if you just listen to me always.'

@CountryMage except he wasn't over all wrong... our MC is a cheat that shouldn't exist and the kid got unlucky and hit by a random stray shot by complete chance... and having confidence is quite normal even... you need it... having a bit of confidence for a single match isn't saying anything about his ability to raise the boy... if it were something overly regular, that'd be one thing... but again, we barely have a single real moment...

We saw nothing of this guy raising the boy, we had no real character interaction between them... hell, we didn't even know the dude was even raising the kid... it's going from 10 to 100 out of nowhere....
