@JavelinJoe Well, to be fair it’s in a way said that that barrier Magic is used as... An actual magical barrier, but that is bound to the person’s innate talent towards an element, such as fire

I could say that the MC can do all that shit, simply because it’s the cliche of him being reincarnated in an isekai for as much an nonsensical it is

But with what we have, it’s way easier to accept what it’s given to us as to how barrier magic works simply because we aren’t given any deep explanation to how it’s actually supposed to work

Yeah... I am just going to go with Barrier Magic being some kind of super rare, Mcguffin grade magic. It has no distinctive reasoning or explination as to how it can be used or how it works, but once a situation calls for some bullshit, Barrier Magic.

@JavelinJoe The manga said it's a super rare magic without a lot of research about it, so from the moment the manga told us that it was clear that it was going to be OP due to cliche isekai manga trope logic of if it's rare and not well know, it's OP as f*ck

It's more like, Barrier Magic is essentially just affinity-less magic, and while Barrier Magic is common in the kingdom, it's a watered-down/basic version of the potentials of affinity-less magic.
Which is partially why it's so OP, because it essentially just means pure magic. Without affinities, you can do an incredibly large range of things, since it's not restricted due to the specialization that affinities cause.
But also, part of why it's so OP is because Haruto is also OP. It's explicitly stated that he really shouldn't be capable of doing a lot of the things he does, but because he essentially brute forces it using his absolutely massive mana pool, he manages.

TL;DR: Barrier Magic is just magic without an affinity and as a result can be used in basically any way you want, and the reason it's so OP is that and the fact that Haruto is terrifyingly powerful and can just brute force shit

@Psychronia I remember in both the Novel and the Manga it being somewhat touched on that Haruto genuinely seems to have some semblance of trust issues. He spends the time he has with his birth parents mentioning that most of the people he met in his past life were assholes/would betray him from what I remember, and he even counts himself in that category. He also directly mentions having some sort of trauma that lead to him deciding to become a NEET. And while his issues seem to have gotten better with his family, he still seems very much like he just generally doesn't like deal with humanity and is very gung-ho about committing his first kill (which isn't morally bad in any way, but the ease he does it with sorta insinuates he's detached from humanity as a whole)

tl;dr: It's not just him being a lazy ass, but it's not him being forced into it by anxiety either. he just has really clear social issues and finds society exhausting and not worth it, and so wants to stay at home.

@MayhemTrinkets I can see what you're trying to say, but from what I understood from the information given about barrier magic in the 1st and 3rd chapter, it's that barrier magic is a lost magic, so not a lot of people can use it, and that it in a way work by creating a layer that anything inside a 2D or 3D barrier has its own rules, so I wouldn't say that it's a common magic

Instead, I would say that the other few individuals that can use barrier magic (I won't say it's bound to elements, due to the prince using strengthening magic, that should be affinity-less since he himself has an affinity with fire, or else he would only burn himself) use Barrier Magic, as a normal barrier, just to block stuff from going in and out without permission due to them being bound to that world current logic of how it's supposed to be used and lack of a boatload of magic, something that the MC is completely opposite since he had to come up with his own research while using his knowledge of our world and methods to use, and by also having 1002 of magic (that it's read as 100 X 2ˆ1002, I think) he becomes able to simply do anything he wants with barrier magic

TL;DR: You're basically right, about Barrier Magic being affinity-less, but wrong at saying it's common and that there are other toned-down versions of barrier magic. Other people can't use like Haruto due to them being bound to that world logic and because they don't have an almost limitless amount of magic

Must really suck to try to convince yourself to do something you absolutely don't want to do...

@entity_101 I think i might've misspoken about it being common, but it's definitely not a 'lost' art. It's implied from the way it's talked about that it's something that's most certainly known and practiced. The 'lost' art is Ancient Magic, which is basically insinuated to just be the name for affinity-less magic overall, and Barrier Magic is essentially what's still used in modern-day.

@MayhemTrinket I see, well I'm just calling it as Lost magic because it's how the MC adoptive father called, not that it's a magic that was lost, but I did understand that it was a magic that some people could still use it

I love the fact that this series makes the sentence of "Talking/Negotiating with yourself" a funny thing.

It ain't crazy when it's true

He STILL has that clone? I'm honestly surprised he didn't erase it as a failed project by now.
Isn't it more than a little cruel that he made a fully independent and self-aware copy of himself just to abuse?

This MC is worthless. He has zero aspirations. He didn't even graduate from high school, yet he thinks he's too good to even leave the house. Japan should institute a new policy of barring Hikikkimori into their rooms until they decide to integrate into society... or starve. Body disposal is more efficient.

You do realize that this Hikikomori trend isn't a reflection of the actual real world, right? You do realize that just because a sci-fi movie like transformers and so forth exist doesn't mean we're in the brink of destruction that we need to halt technology progress, right?
