Hum. I did a quick search on Wikipedia, and the only mention wasIf I remember my history classes right, this concept is accurate. Particularly in Greek/Roman culture, bathing more than once a month was seen as disgusting and barbaric. It's also why there was a big thing with nobility having a lot of perfumes, to mask how rank they smelt
A modern equivilent would be someone thinking an entire can's worth of AXE meant they didn't need to shower, it'll be fiiiiiine.
, and even that was contradicted around two paragraphs later. How hard could it be to find out something so basic‽during the Christianization of the Empire, changing ideas about public morals led the baths into disfavor.
