I don't really understand why they didn't just zerg rush all the dragons into the city?
It is their last stand after all and they fight pathetically against 6 dragons.
If all the dragons just attack 1 place and shredded the defenders they could've won on day 1.
Look at the weak defense of the fairy kingdom even with the top players if The MC wasn't there lol

too much rest is given by the enemy to the defenders.

Zerg rushing the city with the dragons would only lead to excessive damage to infrastructure. The Gehennacross is not that desperate yet. Only when push comes to shove would they zerg rush the city. Even if they do; they do not know what the Fairies' capabilities/weapons are in the city. Now imagine the dragons going in the city only to be mowed down by something similar to an AT gun.

And by zerg rushing, it shows to the common infantry the commander doesn't care about the losses, thus lowering morale.

That's just my take though...

@Raijin793 tbh my zerg rush tactics in total war has very low win ratio
but in this situation I would definitely zerg rush and kill the queen

@Scrwd enchanted ballista that explode on impact and enchanted with armor piercing to punch through dragons come to mind, also ancient chinese ballistas were said to have long range firing capabilities to the point of being able to bombard enemy cities very far away so it should be able to outrange pure magic itself

Catapults ammo can be enchanted to shatter to make an early age airburst rounds to deal with infantry and made flying units like flak
