Some of the art is hard to make heads or tales of despite being very well drawn and intricate. The plot seems kind of ho-hum but if this was an earlier predecessor to others in this palace intrigue genre I can see how it would be well received.

I understood none of this. The pacing was bad, the panelling was confusing, and the dialogue was very poorly written. It really is a shame since the art was so technically good. The major problems could be solved by simply introducing the characters and setting, but you are just sort of thrown in with nothing leading to a confusing read.

This is really good. So refreshing...

This is one of TUTU's earlier works. As such, you may find fault with some minor details in the beginning of the comic. However, as one of the people working on this series, I can tell you that it gets markedly better as the chapters progress. This work did indeed receive a prestigious manhua award for its plotline, and if you stick with the story you will come to understand why.
However, we do realize that COVA will not be a series for everyone. If you do not enjoy complicated palace intrigue and a dark setting, this is not the series for you. Conversely, if you do enjoy such things, strap in for a wild ride.

I think this has alot of potential. The torture, gore, etc are pretty in line with most other "dark" palace dramas (as well as real historical chinese palace drama lol; ex. Empress Wu Zetian). However, waaaay to much information is presented in this chapter. And there were some very important revelations and relationships that had only one panel in total. If the pacing, dialogue, and paneling improve in the future this has the potential to be great. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on it
