I really don't get why all of the people here think he's manipulative or two-faced because he cares about the common good more than one person he met about a week ago.

And as for the fact that he lied about doing it because he cared about her, he literally just didn't want to hurt her feelings, because when she found out he lied, he asked her if she were disappointed. Does trying not to hurt someone really make you two-faced?

And why is it manipulative to cheer her up because he cares about getting her to be able to help the knights he's known for years, rather than just because he cares about some random person he doesn't actually know? The people talking about how human the characters are also seem to be forgetting that it's pretty human not to care about some random person you barely know more than the friends you've had for years.

A lot of people are having sympathy for Renée, saying it's okay to be scared because it's war, but then calling the prince manipulative and two-faced just because he wants to make sure his healer stop his friends from dying. Okay. Just saying, she's not "calling him out" if he hasn't done anything wrong.
