Please everyone, don't misuderstand our poor duke and be blinded by the blonde 2nd ML (and this is all from her POV too). Remember the poor guy has extra sensitive hearing and is currently well beyond than a simple sleep deprivation. Basically, he's a poor man's version of Del's own sensitive hearing AND doesn't have Del's drugs to help him sleep/with his hearing. Next chapter though, prepare thyselves for our first shipping moment since after the confession and a loooong time later for the next (basically, she'll be oogling on the 2nd ML blondie in the earlier chapters. Blondie ain't bad, but she's seriously blinded by his looks that she'd still blush towards him even if they'll eventually have a difference in opinions. I have not read the novel but so the raws but didn't do any MTLs. But she'll get a glimpse of a portion of his true self and have one small argument over a difference of beliefs and/or ideas. Sadly, she's incredibly intimidated/scared of our duke and the next biggest shipping moment they'll have after next chapter will be on

@Pocky8 A part of me was thinking that he was crinkling his brow cause he realized she was going to war and didn't like the idea of her being in such a dangerous situation because he likes her. Then he made the "don't bother me" comment and now I'm not so sure. Would be nice if it was out of love rather than annoyance.

@Svelandria My thoughts exactly! Maybeeee we can interpret his "don't bother me" as "stay out of trouble so I don't have to save you" but... that feels a little bit forced...
He is cold to her. But then I remember the Prologue and he only thawed when she confessed to him. So.. maybe he is just too much of an introvert or shy person? Aaaaah, I don't know!
