@c104 I think its the idea is that the mc is good enough at stuff like literature and writing or some other liberal arts that she got recognized for it in Middle School. The problem is that she loves the other girl who is good Math and is probably trying to get into a stem college with a focus in science or math. So basically the MC is talented enough to have her crush approach her but she is wallowing in despair since she can't get grades good enough to reach the college her crush is going.

TLDR; Girl who is good at writing loves girl good at Math. Girl good at math going to science college that Writing girl can't get to with her Math grade. Despair.
