To me this seems pretty simple and straightforward, how are people not getting it? There is an elitist nerd who suddenly wants to hop off his pedestal when he sees another nerd. The other nerd doesn't want to interact with him because nerds usually have the 'tism (which she almost certainly guessed right about). If you go into any media fandom you don't have to look far to get a cortisol spike from bad media literacy or general shit takes. She doesn't have to argue about interpretations with otakus because they're filtered but if it's someone who also reads it could ruin the comfy atmosphere.
