I wouldn't say it's messing, just an adaptation. The original joke relies on the character having never used a first-person pronoun like Watashi/Boku/Ore, but that would be hard to explain without a long footnote (which would be hard to fit ina single page), so I think this is a fair compromise.

that's seriously upsetting. for a manga that has less than 100 words IN A YEAR, you should be able to make an accurate translation. instead we have a significant portion of the yearly story warped
