I’ve already said it in comments to other BL, but I’ll repeat myself because it’s the same situation.
I’ll never understand this particular BL author paradox where BL authors are obsessed with crossdressing but extremely reluctant to make their characters transsexual or to make a hereto couple. What’s so good in this “male character is forced into girl’s clothes” scheme? It’s so damn annoying. If you want to draw male characters dressing up in women’s clothes and putting on a make-up, get some balls and make a trans character or drag lead. It’d finally bring something interesting into the same old plotlines
sloof? I haven't read enough BL to the point this cross-dressing is a every other thing. It's suppose to be humorous in juxtaposition, but dubcon is a serious thing though. I do feel THAT is over used. It's rare to find personalities outside of the formula, not to mention most BL is targeted towards women and not a general audience. Meaning that misconceptions and stereotypes are used more just because it's in genre. It's rare to find outlets which draw outside of the two genders.
Other genders can be defined in western works, East or Oriental have it a little rougher. You can define gender-less things, some gods have always had the ability to shift genders (gender fluidity) and the whole concept of cross-dressing or gender bending is a trope - along the lines of a masculine female or an effeminate men. They mainly stick to two genders regardless because of government censorship, not to mention the author may have a poor understand of other sexes. I've seen trans characters being portrayed poorly, and they've become a joke character. Being out of the stereotypical has always been there for contrast but there are always exceptions, (like the ones mentioned earlier).
I'm surprised your still reading this when IT does fall into the same formula of straight-man syndrome and the coming of being turned bent. How he can't see that ML is scum and even empathizes and defends ML. How ML is scheming and calculative but also desperate, and bonus+ they got family issues and bonus bonus+ he's rich. And I guess the cherry on top is that he is popular and can coerce MC under that circumstance. If you want to avoid these types of scenarios, how about yeeting out of any of them that say Comedy. It surely ain't comedy but the industry takes it as a joke.
Thought I drop
Man Drowning in a Veil. I understand criticism but you repeatedly saying it (in other comment sections), obviously there's a problem with your search history. I'm only stating that if you find something, anything that you like eventually how about taking the time to write how wonderful the series is. how not frustrated you feel by the end of it. how you like it's different from the formula. spend time complimenting and speculating. I'm obviously not one for example, seeing as how long this is
THANK YOU TRANSLATORS. I like the art of this series and the concept of an otaku pair (could do without the extra baggage) but it's really been a series I've been reading thus far. Speaking about the formula, I just hope MC comes to a realization, by himself, before the ML does "irrecoverable" damage. And I LOOK GODDAMN FORWARD TO HIS COSPLAY. I look forward to the next coming chapters to see which direction the author takes it in.
???????
What kind of coercion people in comments are talking about? the only coercion I've seen so far in this particular series is from girls who are all over ML, though..? will he force MC later on..? God, I hope it's not the case, they've got such a lovely friends-to-lovers going (
