Just some light homophobia from our MC here.
Light phobia is an oxymoron. Phobia is, by definition, an extreme fear of something. Anxiety that at worst causes serious problems in the person's life.

I live in a country without a single all-boys or -girls school, as far as I know. I can't fathom why anyone would want to go to such a place voluntarily, no matter if he/she is hetero- or homosexual. It's not like homosexuals can't deal with heterosexuals. Outside of sexual relations, they are just average joes and janes, and most likely their group of friends is as random as anyone else's, provided they aren't suffering from social anxiety due to bad experiences or whatever. So, in this series' case, it's perfectly natural the dude would want to go to a mixed school. It's not a sausage fest (which is important since he doesn't want to copulate with his sisters or mom, go figure), but he could still possibly make a few male friends as well. However, it looks like the chances for such an ideal life are slim in that world.

Well, yes, I know saying "light homophobia" was being a little silly. I was trying to be silly though.

Also, he specifically said that he didn't want to go to a school filled with homosexuals, so while yes, I agree that it is fine and normal that he wants to go to a co-ed school, he is still being homophobic about it.

The older sister has a different mother? So are the kids adopted from different parents?

Same mother, different sperm cell donation, hence no father in the family since everyone born from sperm cell from the donation center
Looking at it again, it seems I misread it, since it’s saying that her friend wanted to show a picture of Sou to her (the friend’s) mother.

Question, are you reading the same manga as I am? Cause the author has been showing that there is a very good reason most guys in this world would become gay.
In our world, women has to deal with being sexualized all the time. That and then attending an all-girls school doesn't all turn them gay.

My only problem was how it was worded by the MC which I found ignorant. Aside from that, I otherwise find reading this series fun.

For the first point, kinda wrong comparison. While, yes, women are sexualized here so are men. You would need an inverse ratio to get a somewhat fair comparison.

On the second point, I can guess why. The first school they are talking about implies it and I guess the first impression lasted on him.

Homophobia is really not a phobia.

From the New York times about the creator of the word:

Over time, “homophobia” evolved from a rallying cry to a contested term. Critics, both gay and heterosexual, argued that however useful the word might be as a political tool, or as a consciousness raiser, it did not withstand scrutiny. Homophobia, they pointed out, was not precisely equivalent to an irrational fear of snakes or heights, and the emotions associated with it were more likely to be anger or disgust than fear. Its meaning had become too diffuse, they argued, covering everything from physical assault to private thoughts to government policies.

Boy/girl only schools in Japan are notorious for having a lot more homosexuals, acting like this is just something the author made up because it doesn't agree with your western "sensibilities" is beyond sad. There's also nothing -phobic either about a young hormonal teenage boy not wanting to spend his youth around gay guys when he time and again said he wanted to be around girls. Having preferences isn't -phobic, being straight isn't -phobic.

Regardless, Japan has its own culture that needs to be respected, cultural imperialism is cringe as hell.
