A Play-by-Post Adventure

After an impromptu adventure post which was initially meant as a GM joke (context: in the past decade, to parody dating app pick-up lines and conversation starters some people on social networks would use paragragh long descriptions to make themselves look interesting and be original) I decided to create a new thread to show others how roleplaying games using a play-by-post format work. It takes much longer to play the same adventure than meeting for some hours on an appointed day but they were popular in forums back then because you could answer whenever you could (you were given, for instance, one full day to describe what you wanted to do) and there weren't platforms to play on. Currently, even if the impromptu adventure is not using a concrete system or universe the interpretation has led to some low-fantasy d20 adventure:
  • You're inside a corridor without windows, only a straight passway that leads to a dead end. The tourches are blazing and placed each 20 feet to provide enough light to gaze your surroundings and step confidently. You hear wind yet there's no breeze, you feel humidity yet there's no water on sight. The door you used to enter this corridor is gone and your back is touching what seems to be a sturdy wall. What do you do in that predictment?
    • Does a... 22 find any traps in the immediate vicinity?
  • Around you the floor is even, the walls don't have remarkable features and you don't spot wires, holes or cracks that could point to some kind of device hidden that could endanger you by stepping forwards or resting on the walls. The celling is lacking adornments and there is nothing hanging on it or openings, it's a pretty shaped stonework in fact. During the time you've been checking the area around you some dripping sounds became audible to you from somewhere afar, irregular like when you hang a drenched coat to dry. What is your next thought?
    • I take a sling and skip a smooth rock along the floor toward the far end of the hallway, with a... 16 to hit. Anything unusual happen?
  • Your shot flies like any of your usual shots: it draws a parabola but it seems the end was more far than you expected as it first hits the ground and, on a couple of hops, ends up rebouncing on the wall at the end. However you notice that the sound from hitting on the wall was considerably lower than the one that returned from the ground. Besides this, nothing else changes, and you notice again all the previous sounds making noise again. Now that you have a better notion of the corridor's length, what's your next move?
    • Move about one quarter of the way down the hall, as best as I can estimate, and pause to listen.
With a... 20 on a perception roll, do the sounds of wind and water still seem to be coming from in front of me?
  • You walk past the second tourch and you stop as you notice two peculiarities: to the left, there's a geometrical mosaic made of tiles shaped like a Fleur-de-lis; to the right, you can appreciate a really soft sound from a breeze, as it went on the other side of the wall. Despite this discovery, both the previous wind and water sounds come from in front of you, slightly louder as you moved forward.
For now, I can continue playing with @Angry_Panda (we'll decide when and how) but I can either prepare small adventures for different players and/or group them up in a singular game. Comment and ask if you may be interested in trying.

I inspect the mosaic closely with a 9 (yikes!), looking for a secret door or release.

(Suppose we should have decided where and when first - I'll put a pin in it after this until we settle that.)

The mosaic seems decorative: it may had been there for a long time and all the tiles seem to be equally attached. Your fingertips get covered by dust and you can see how you're leaving your prints wherever you touch the tiles. You peek behind only to confirm that the wall remains unchanged. [We will continue another day]

I think we need establish simple rules. I propose one rule to give each comment a title to differentiate each campaign. Example:

Beyond The Dark

[Enter the story here]
If I have to run more than more at the same time I'd create another post to avoid confusion. Above you've seen an example of how it goes, Panda decided to roll dice (and I went along with it) but they're not necessary.
