this is the second manga I've read which has referenced the Sazae San model

@Robbini sort of, the status of the helots is somewhat up for debate, with many considering them to be outright enslaved (it's worth mentioning, the 1:7 ratio mentioned in this chapter was in fact 7 helots per each spartan), even those who didn't refer to them as slaves only refer to them as having "a status between free men and slaves" and being tied to the land they worked, which draws comparison to the serfdom system of feudal europe (which could itself be described as "slavery with extra steps")

This manga is gold. I wonder why they all want to get on landowner's good side? It's easy to think it's just another implied harem route, but Chapter 3 sort of contradicts that. Maybe, just maybe, they actually feel bad for all the trouble they're causing him, and they want to see him happy like squire is doing? Who knows

Yes, pankration did originate from Ancient Greece. But, the practice of it was picked up by the Romans as well, and they spread it around. In fact, there's quite a few organizations and groups that practice pankration in modern times.
