Hi there,

I have my own little team that has three translators, a letterer, and two editors(Me and a friend). I just had a question. How would I go about posting some of the work we have done so far that is manga related? We can't share with you guys some of it as some of it involves paywall content that we got off DLSite and I prefer to keep my relationships with some of the people I have made friends with over the years on Pixiv. I am working on getting permission to sell them as one of the projects has just been sitting on this laptop for two years as we can't release it until we have permission from the creator.

Anyway, how would I go about getting permission to upload it? It's not official stuff but more indie stuff we have worked on from Pixiv and DLSite.

That's a tricky one, I take that with the paywall they have both access to the original language and the translation? If you had the permission to upload even part of your work to encourage purchasing it, you could do that of course. The rule about published material was mainly written for licensed works, in the sense that you cannot upload the officially translated volumes, but anyone can scanlate a series already licensed. The important point is that the official, paid version, is not the same that the one you worked on. But indie or not you can definitely upload free content, I think that's how Merryweather works are uploaded here, only a few aren't because of said paywall. My recommendation would be asking an admin directly or posting in Support subforum.

Okay thanks. Also, yes if you were to buy two of our works you would get original language and the translation we did of said work into English. The good news is that most people I work with are fully aware of what me and my team do and are totally fine with it outside of a few things here or there. Outside of this recent MMA manga I am thinking of picking up for us of a series that just started but isn't licensed by anyone in the NA, I should be all right with uploading something like a Gouskon. Thanks for your answer. I'll reach out to them when I get a chance.
