Posting an excessive amount of notes ruins the immersion of being sucked into a story as each note kicks you right back out, no matter how helpful they may be to some. In a perfect world, there would only be notes for truly untranslatable concepts that only exist in the culture of the original language, as anything else should be able to be explained in context of the story without having to leave a note; it's all in how you translate it.
That said, not my group, so I don't get to choose their policies, and can only make recommendations to keep story reminder notes and fluff notes to the bottom of the chapter, and only the truly important notes during the chapter's progression. Anything reminding someone of the story only applies to readers who have previously read the story and keep up with it every new chapter post, and will just be annoying to future readers who come in later and blaze through the chapters and already know everything that's going on because it's fresh in their mind.
