Chapter 15 says she has a boy she likes, which is Lyell

Chapter 16 shows two girls(?) talking, one looks exactly like Lyell and she says she went to the nail saloon

Chapter 30 uses "she" for Lyell

Chapter 31 uses "he" because she didn't know it was Lyell in the armor

And now chapter 32 uses "he" again

I feel someone should check those chapte4s raws to see if they actually specify Lyell gender

Lyell is also a  lot more feminine compared to their first appearance, so it's hard to say if originally was a guy and mangaka changed to a girl, super pretty guy, or if it was always a girl

Either way Lyell gender is not consistent in the translation

We need to know if it's girl x boy that looks like girl or if it's girl x girl, it's extremely critical for the plot :v

Look at the chapters I mentioned, Lyell looks way more feminine after 15, I suspect maybe Lyell was a boy and mangaka changed it or it's purposely vague and translators don't know

All I know is that Lyell looks way too feminine and the nail talk would be weird for a guy even if he looks super feminine

My guess is that Lyell is meant to be a girl

Alright, I'm going to clarify the matter concerning Lyell's gender. Thank you for T-sama for giving us which chapters to check.

Ch. 15: Kishi danchou, jitsu wa ki ni naru otoko no ko ga iru.
The Knight Commander is actually interested in a boy.

Ch. 16: nail salon girl (left), Lyell (right). Lyell has a longer face, the "bishounen face" I call it.

Ch. 30: this was my fault. He looks so much like a girl in vol. 2 that I zoned out and recognized her as one kek.

It's clear now that Lyell is in fact a boy. I will edit the wrong pronoun in Ch. 30 later.

Makes sense you didn't recognized his gender when zoning out, the design is clearly beyond just pretty boy and outright looks like a girl at this point

Maybe plot twist that Lyell is a girl crossdressing for some reason
