Man do I regret posting those .5s. That was irresponsible of me. I am 99% sure that the MC in those was a different guy. So, my presumption is that he's beat from being dragged around by the blonde FMC while worrying about appearances all day. He's lamenting getting involved with her at all in the first place.

I was never under the impression the .5s were continuous with the rest of the series. I figured they were a parallel story in the same universe. It could make sense to create two separate “volumes” for the story, one with the main MC and one with everybody else.
