Yeah, Helga is the future.

The gender-bent arc proved what's really going on here: Leo is fond of Fooly but is basically into girls. If she really was into him there wouldn't be this eight-years-long "silent understanding" crap, they'd be in an actual relationship. But he's a guy, and that holds her back, it's a deal-breaker.

She can be jealous of his attention all she wants, but at the end of the day she doesn't want to get with him, she just wants to monopolize his attention. She needs to be honest enough with herself that while she's jealous of Fooly's attention, she isn't attracted to him. Because if you can't really return those feelings, stringing someone along is just heartless.

Also this level of jealousy would be borderline abusive even if they were actually together, for her to be telling him who he can be friends with is messed up

I see two trends in here:

People who say that the gender-bend chapter was the last drop to show that Leo doesn't really like Fooly because she swings the other way round, so they pair Fooly with best girl Helga Boochi. And people that say that Leo should stop fooling around and assume a relationship with Fooly for once.

I will say just this. Leo can be cute but she is losing ground every chapter by not getting in an official relationship with Fooly. Then, here comes Helga. She is cute ad infinitum and likes fooly more as a friend (because her initial goal was to befriend Leo) but as time goes on she is getting the audience's heart and will get to like fooly as a potential romantic interest as things keep going.

I'm team Helga all the way. She is too cute for this world. The fact that she improves with every chapter is positive, even though she can look a little awkward.

... This whole "the genderbend chapter proves Leo is a lesbian because she made a disgusted face when Fooly turned back to a man" thing makes no sense to me. Am I the only one who realizes that Leo's unusually flustered reaction to Fooly's female form is most probably because she's not used to thinking of Fooly as cute and now he turned into someone who is so immensely cute even she can notice it, and the expression she made was essentially disappointment in the sudden loss of that immense cuteness and her coming down from the high that she was running on just before he transformed back?

Leo finds herself so attracted to female fooly that shes beside herself and about to go down on him at the drop of a hat - then he becomes a man and suddenly is out of steam.

Shes attracted to girls, not "oh shes cute" but... "oh, maybe it wouldn't be so bad to fool around". A straight woman who was "attracted" to foolys sudden cute side would still have her engine going top speed when he changes back - FOOLY NEVER STOPPED BEING CUTE HES A SUPER CUTE BOI

your BIAS as a straight man makes you think that some how women are the only cuteness, but if leo actually was SEXUALLY attracted to men, she would have never came down from that high. She likes fooly - but not sexually. Fooly is always cute and attractive - she wants nothing to do with him.
