That aside, my running theory that Abandoned is just a literal Hell continues to gather evidence. The dwarves were "cast into Abandoned" by humans and now we see that they were just executed.

Forgot about that, i read a decent chunk of manga so some of it just gets erased from my memory.

Dwant mentioned that Carrie's father was also their previous leader, so I don't think he meant betrayal as literal treachery, but more like he abandoned them all when war broke out, ditching his duty to lead them in order to be with an elf.
