Add a like button to the comments , so the best comment of a thread can be read first.
Also comments can be seen in two ways - "Top comments" and "Latest or Earliest comments"

EDIT-
I suggested this because in a few comment sections there are more than a thousand comments, hence the best should stand out while making it easier for the people reading them, i.e. uploaders, groups, or even the mods.
And also the two ways for people who like their method of viewing.

EDIT2-
This system is already planned, sorry for bringing it up again
Thanx for showing the thread.

P.S
I feel that it is a bit of a copycat style, but I believe this is the most effective way to read the comments.

If you agree, please participate in the poll.
Suggestions are welcome

Yes to upvotes, but no downvotes as well

It’s to better base things on what is liked, not hated

Plus, having no likes is anxiety enough for a part time comedian in the comments section

Pretty sure that if we ever happen to implement anything like this, it'll be more like Discord's emoji reactions

I like that. It prevents the forums becoming a scoreboard but still gives you a quick way to tell someone you thought their post was funny/ etc...

better just leave it how it is, tbh the like/dislike culture makes it some pathetic meta game instead of honest dialogue

Even without the possibility of downvotes, and even with options such as now prevail on Facebook, having a publicly visible Like count will create an incentive to comment to gather Likes; there would still be scoreboarding.

Personally I think everyone here is just paranoid of likes. Other social media have been fine with such systems and no tribalism there have occured so I'm all up for a Discord like system.

yeah I dislike 'likes' button and count as well, people will have different motivation to comment with likes system implemented

better have comments with clearer reply system first

or likes button with no likes count, just let the comment's poster get a notification when others like their posts (somehow I made this Idea before clicking that instagram link, basically they have similar idea)
and make it that it's still can be sort by best (just no like count)

I feel that the numbers of likes (or dislikes) would dictate what many people think on a particular comment and consequently the topic at hand. or at least, if comments are filtered by likes and dislikes, general opinion would be directed to those and other comments would be disregarded, especially when it gets to a point if there's a large amount of comments and the top comments have many likes/dislikes.

If only those comments are considered, because there are plenty of people who only look at the top comments/comments with the most likes, then it's unfair to other comments that are newer and will likely not get as many likes because of that or to comments that don't have as many likes.

edit: private likes would be nice. private dislikes would be nice too. if there were ever to be a like function, there needs to be a dislike function. youtube has the dislike feature in the comments, but it's so useless and your dislike doesn't show up as a number nor does it affect the number of likes on a comment.

I'm against the idea as it would encourage popular stuff and discourage unpopular. If you work hard and see minimal likes compare to something that took no time it makes you less likely to work second time.

There are only two correct answers, either go all in and implement likes, dislikes and funny buttons or don't have them at all.

No I don’t think there should be. I hate the competition people get into over getting top comment, or the comment with the most likes. I like the way it is now, where it kind of feels like you’re free to comment without pressure and nobody is better than anyone else just based on likes.

I don't really care if there's any "like" system as long as this shit won't change comment's/post's order.

For what it's worth, no matter what happens to the forums, I don't think anybody in the staff is interested in changing the linear post order.

At least by default. Optional stuff, if it ever becomes applicable, will be optional.
