Hello!
Requesting to add ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, which holds cultural significance as the native language of the Hawaiian Islands. A major series that I'm working to translate into this language is set in Hawaii and it's speculated that some of the characters are native Hawaiian.

Efforts to revitalize and preserve ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi have become increasingly prominent in recent years, reflecting a commitment to indigenous language revitalization and cultural heritage preservation. The language is still classified as critically endangered by UNESCO, and, as far as I know, there has yet to be a scanlation of a major series being translated into ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi. Having this language as an option can be a huge achievement for it and aid efforts in preserving and helping others know about Ōlelo Hawaiʻi.

The Latin alphabet is used in written form alongside the kahakō and ʻokina. Text is written from left to right. Please let me know if additional info is needed.

code: ISO 639-2 (haw)
flag: Hawaiian flag

As per the new language request megathread,
  • Requested language should have at least 5 existing scanlations, publicly available.

Have you translated at least at least 5 chapters or are willing to translate at least 5? 🤔
Still unsure if it will added soon after though since the language is in ISO 639-2 and MD supports ISO 639-1, It might

Oof. The translations may just be one chapter, unless I can find more people to help out so more chapters can be made. Progress has been slow.
