@BalrogDeMorgoth probably the serial killer was already caught red handed or there's a crucial evident, while a poor lawyer could be force to be the lawyer, he has family backing and there's no way his family would let him had dirty reputation. My guest is since Gyu Ri and MC entered the university with good result, he's out of option this time but the previous time when Gyu Ri couldn't attend uni cause financial problem or MC that barely entered SKU and not an outsanding student, this guy must be selected as member of the secret club (cause his family background), since himself isn't really an outsanding student, he might be easily manipulated and submit to those dirty people (2 seniors from before). That's why MC questioned why he ended up like that while in this time he's a dorky guy that wanted to date Gyu Ri (while not being an asshole and harrassed her to get her attention). He's like Suneo "Doraemon" or an opportunity bacteria that can be evil or good depends on the situation
