In case you're wondering, yes, the pages 7 and 9 are exactly identical in the raws, and yes, the MC sometimes repeats himself a few times in a few pages.

Why is the name mo li? Why not jasmine? I think it's sound better and easily remembered

@rifqyip Yes, its supposed to be jasmine. The previous manhua translater just arbitrarily decided to leave it untranslated like a name, while it is in fact a title.

@rifqyip translating the names into English is a huge taboo and only low quality translators like mangatoon do it. It doesn't fit into the context of a wuxia set in China

English names just feel weird, yes they might be easier to remember (and believe me there have certainly been times that I forgot a character’s name) but it just doesn’t fit the narrative

For those who care, the translators of the novel are also officially translating this manhua and they're using the correct titles etc starting from the beginning of the series, so no more 'Mo Li' nonsense.

That's the series being translated by the official translators of the novel, it's the real deal so to speak and properly licensed. You'll need a free account to read past the first few chapters and they're not caught up to the latest yet, but it's 1000x better than repeated "Mo Li" nonsense. I've double checked with the admin Zephyrus, he's given me the okay for posting this.

Everything has exceptions, and exceptions with this crop up more often with Chinese material. This is one of those exceptions.

It's her title, not just a name.

@Amplify the ones that are doing it for Wuxia World's Wutopia comics are just renting out the licence to doing the series. Mangatoon, Webcomics and WeComics have the rights to it also, most people prefer pinyin because English names butcher the whole series. Try reading Spirit Sword Sovereign or early Soul Land chapters on Mangatoon. Plus the Pinyin for 茉莉 is Mo Li which means Jasmine in English. It isn't a title and Mo Li sounds better than Jasmine. Also, the stuff on Wutopia Comics is translated and edited by Chinese companies

Their team are working directly in conjunction with Mars himself and often confer with him over names and meanings, how they should be translated etc, which is why Mo Li gets translated as Jasmine - basically "because word of god says so."

Now who should we listen to here: some guy who's frankly too lazy to put any effort into translate names / terms and leaves them in their basic pinyin form with zero effort put into them, or the author himself?

@Amplify Definitely not the latter. English names have no place in Wuxia, naming a profound character a name like Jasmine or Katie is a blasphemy and the author doesn't even care since this is a harem novel equivalent to my great sword.

Yeah I'm just gonna go ahead and discard your opinion like the worthless trash it is, and instead go with the professional quality team + the author. Don't give me some bullshit about how the language is sacred and parts of it should be left untranslated, that's 'nakama' bullshit tier.

If you're going to translate something, do it properly and follow the author's intent & will - not inconsistently and in an unprofessional manner just because you prefer the untranslated word sometimes and think you know better than the guy who wrote the story in the first place on how things in the story are meant to be.
