I just want to write that Ah! My Goddess manga and anime means a lot for me. Anime was one of the first titles i ever watched as "i want to watch an anime" (and not just some random japanese cartoon i accidently saw on TV). My RL was harsh and i wanted something new. "Good people" on internet recommended me some "top titles" and all of them, for some reason, were tragedy and drama tags. This didn't help me one bit. But this one healed me. It was romantic, funny, a bit of stupid and comedy. Belldandy is still a top girl.
Much later, when i started to read manga too, i learn that this one is almost as old as i am. The art style changed like 3 or 4 times during those chapters and early chapters from eighties are much harsher than new ones. You read the whole things and see in real time how manga overall and writing practices changes in those 32 years.
If you interested in manga as a phenomena, i think you should read this one, even if genre is not for you. Also, while being one of the few very early romantic harem comedies it actually contains a valid reason for MC to act the way most "harem MC" acts. Even if the reason is a bit crazy. It's really feels like author though about this plot twist back in eighties and still decided to put in in use.
