The series is ongoing, and I'm almost certain they'll circle back to Kiyoka as the end-game, to be honest.
The series was greenlight for a sequel, hence an ongoing tag.

This ending was the original ending before the author was asked for a continuation. I think the author will keep the same type of ending of this one, the thin line of what is love and their ambiguous relationship. I bet they will continue kinda with a open ending for that sake.
Are all you sure that it is ongoing or just gave us open ending ? I mean I really wanna know as I want the high school friend to be together as they are need to be dude .... With the bartender was just like you lost your kitty and found another one on streets , and to protect it or pat them , you kept it , but you can't longer.
