@immortalartisan
How far are they from the starting point, and my location now?
I have the drones weave and loop around working around the perimeters and far sides of large chunks of wreckage so the creatures can't just bounce about like pinballs between the parts, and have to actually creep, climb, claw, and scramble in their efforts to move around to the far side of the wreckage while attempting to catch the drones. I also have them work in the creature's blind spots to keep them spinning in circles to up their confusion. While the drones are on the far side of objects I have the sensor drone feed live sensory data from it's POV, to the dancing drones to prevent the possibility the bugs may attempt a fake out, or ambush maneuver when they think the drones can't see them.
Do they seem to be wearing down at all?
How much ammo does the XDCD still have?
I thermal scan the bugs looking for hot zones that may indicate thinner Carapice, or organelles that produce heat from exothermogenicly reactive chemicals that allow creatures that would normally be exotherms to regulate their own body temperature in a cold environment. I also watch for areas that appear cooler, that may indicate chambers they may use to store air for breathing, and to counteract decompression in the vacuum of space where other life forms would pop like zits!
I bounce scanner array discharge, microwave, and high frequency radio bursts off debris to hit the bugs from different angles to see if they can detect those signals.
