Might be an unpopular opinion but i hate his friends...here he is doing everything to make sure THEY survive, to the point of being stepped on literally and fighting the strongest people and they, as his friends, literally only care about themselves.

Well, I shouldn't get attached to anyone in the adventurers party.

The art is nice, but the story seems quite stupid for now.

@krispy yep I agree. His friends are expecting Vera to be robbed of his freedom and expect him to sacrifice himself for them. Those maggots should fight to the death. Honestly Vera deserves better. Those friends only care about themselves and just want Vera to continue to be stepped on. I hope Vera has a better life.

It's hard for people to be good when they've lived their lives as gladiatorial slaves.

Kinda want to follow this group of adventurers instead. They look like a DnD crew or something. The princess seems way too much of a bitch even if I sympathize with her having to be born into a family of assholes.

@krispy @randomdetectiveconanfan I don't know what you guys are talking about. One of his friends literally told him why accepting the proposal is the better choice. Rejecting it means certain death at each other's hands, while accepting it means a chance at survival.

Vera even has the opportunity to escape unlike the three of his friends who would've remained slaves if Vera hadn't brought up his conditions to the princess. Something will probably keep him from actually escaping, but there's no way he or his friends could've known.

Read the comments where people were demonizing Vera's friends and I was so confused because the way some people phrased it was that they sold him out or some shit.
They literally told the man to take the option that keeps all of them alive and even offered him up a plan to escape himself (obviously their intent is obvious to the princess but how are they supposed to know that?)

And yeah @Tersione the adventurers seem cool. I like Vera but I'm still not a fan of the princess at all but since she's the cover character we're going to be stuck with her for the long haul

@LordTrollbias Exactly. My guess is that they took Vera being more afraid of the princess than fighting his friends to the death, as well as his friends protesting his choice, too seriously. It was pretty clear that the story was just playing that moment up for comedy instead of trying to show how awful his friends are for condemning him to such a fate (which clearly isn't the case).

I, for one, actually like the princess. I hope she'll stay as good a character for a long time.

@Tersione it's not so much of a comedy imo. From Vera's point of view, each time he met the princess he had to eat dirt and swallow his pride to save those dear to him. Imagining spending the rest of his possibly long life stuck alone with her... not a surprise he's not fond of the idea.

@TroubleFait I know. The dynamic between Vera and the princess is part of the reason why I can't like her. I'm just referring to the fact that some people are blowing what his friends said out of proportion; demonizing them even though I can't see anything that would warrant this reaction. That is, beyond taking the scene way too seriously and ignoring the consequences of rejecting the princess' proposal, as well as the benefits of accepting it. All of which were explicitly mentioned in the chapter no less.

And it's also a black type of comedy. The story's aware of how poorly the princess treats him and makes a joke of him preferring to kill his friends and be killed by them in turn rather than spend any amount of time with her because of this. It may be dark and not funny, but it's still a joke.

I think the guy with the spikey hair and scar across his nose snotched to the princess. Some of the things he said in earlier chapters make me think so.

This colorful band of bandits might be sticking around for a while.

Author makes it pretty obvious whose the traitor with a name like mole but more likely the one hit with an arrow did it

I like the princess, she is an asshole but she has personality and i do think she cares for him in her own twisted way, but i do understand why Vera would choose a death match comparable to that hurricane of a girl.

If it was the young prince as the Aire i could see this going completely those thief sides, but that girl isnt a fool i think she has been preparing for the fact that she won't be a princess anymore (swordplay was underway already) but sure there is much difference when you cant push around royal authority.

I’m surprised it’s tradition to send men out as Aire when they’re looking for the “Queen’s Treasure”. Wouldn’t it make more sense to send a woman to follow in the steps of the legendary Queen?

@LecherousLeech that's cause the jackasses in power want to keep the power. I'm betting that the "Queen's Treasure" is literally something only a female would be able to find. But after a couple generations the kings usurped the throne. So to hold onto the reins they wouldn't dare allow another "woman" to become Queen,
