Mori doesn't mention in his monologues that Rika was the one who filled out the card. He only mentions that she came up with the plan with the unrated videos. We don't know who exactly did it. As for the second card, it's immediately obvious that Rika prepared it in advance.
Mori didn't care about himself, because he was only interested in Rick and how to take her away.
They both stored the videos they shoot in the sd card so they both knew what was in it.Shinjo suspected that someone is after them and most likely it's the husband so he discussed it with Rika and she told him to let them have the evidence so Rika will confirm who is the person chasing them and then retrieve the evidence.

Let me clear something for both of you no one prepared the sd card,it was always there to store the videos since shinjo couldn't keep the data neither in his phone nor in his computer because his wife checks the pc and his son play games in his phone. He kept it to himself all this time from the beginning to store the data and when he is alone in bathroom he uploads the video.
Completely True. I even forgot about this point, my bad!
I even read it again, to clear my mind of things, to remember some points.
And yeah, while it's possible she switched to a second, similar card, this could also be applied to her having simply erased the data in the first one( though switching would be safer overall).

Maybe instead of searching for hidden meanings and motives that the author clearly hasn’t established yet, it would be better to focus on the facts and clues that have been shown?
It seems to me that the events in the bar, from the standpoint of facts and evidence, could already have given Rika enough proof of her husband’s involvement in spying on her.

  1. Upon entering this (supposedly very confidential) establishment, the MC already gave himself away, at the very least by showing an ID to verify his age.
  2. I didn’t find any mention of the town where the story takes place, but it seems strange to me that another PTA member — the one shown at the very beginning — just happened to be in the same bar.
  3. When Rika appeared, she immediately went to the restroom where she ran into Sousuke. Embarrassed by the sounds of vomiting, she ran to get help, but we never saw any rescuers arrive.
Considering that the meeting spot of the main character and the parking lot — Shingo, Shiratori, and Rika — are only 3–5 meters apart, it shouldn’t have been hard for her to figure out that after the incident in the restroom, the gentleman who sat next to the woman at the bar was her husband. How could she not recognize him?
And did she even go back to the restroom in the end?

I Think she knew for a long time that sousuke is suspicious of her.In chapter 1 he suddenly wanted to take a bath together and wanted to attend pta even when Rika tried to dissuade him.
The video they posted clearly showed the location even teruchi knew where it was shot.Rika knew that he will recognise her voice in the video if he ever saw and the location was their daughter classroom and the bath was to confirm the mole position.
But she knew that sousuke on his own won't be able to do much but he cornered shiratori,So someone is definitely helping him and it was akiba.Thats why she warned her.she knew he was investigating her and he didn't knew anything about shinjo till then.
In the pta trip she realised that sousuke knows the affair partner is shinjo because shinjo told her that someone is watching them and it may be her husband and that's where she planned everything. She told shinjo to let him have the evidence to confirm that it's him and Will retrieve it later from her room.she knew even with the evidence sousuke will not confront her immediately and he is an idiot so he will not copy the sd card. But after retrieving it they immediately upload the video to mock him and Rika either change the sd card or deleted the videos containing her.Now she anticipated things to go in two ways-
(1)If sousuke tried to confront her she will feign ignorance and he won't be able to do anything to her without evidence. If he cheats on her she will get a free pass to do what she wants by blackmailing him maybe.
(2)She knows if sousuke doesn't fall in despair then he will definitely find a way to catch them so she already made plans by switching the sd card if shinjo get caught and let him take the fall alone which is what happened exactly.
After that I can't speculate much.

A couple more situations that would make Rika start questioning her husband’s activities if she ever found out about them.

Given the fact that Rika has been attending the PTA for a long time and is clearly familiar with the teachers (at least Shiratori), we can assume that other characters connected to her could have reported Sousuke’s movements at the school.

  1. The moment of the protagonist’s first lie - when he sneaks into the school and meets Akiba. Sousuke told Rika he was going on a business trip, but as we know, that wasn’t true.
If someone saw him there, that alone would be grounds for Rika to become suspicious of the protagonist.
  2. The protagonist was seen together with Akiba near the entrance to the classroom where Shiratori’s disgusting videos were being filmed - seen by the couple who were supposedly waiting for their turn.
It’s not at all necessary that Rika shared full information about herself with Shingo, or any other data or specific plans.
Even if he were interrogated, the information would likely be fragmented - but it’s interesting that we never actually see Shingo give a detailed account. I suspect this was done intentionally to stretch out the plot, just like the protagonist’s next shift back toward passivity and self-blame.

An interesting point is that Rika clearly fears the protagonist gaining access to her phone, even though, as we learned, her communication with Mori happens through a banking app - to which Sousuke most likely has no access and doesn’t know the password.
And in the messenger there are 40 unread messages.
We can assume there might be even more important information there, though that’s not necessarily the case.

Could you explain what the point was with the female doctor and her dialogue with Sousuke? Has she appeared before?

I’d like to hear the opinion of people who know Japanese well regarding a couple of things.

  1. If you combine the frames from Momonga’s school-channel footage shown in Volume 1 + the extra chapters + the raw images from Mori’s kiss scene, you end up with a strange picture.

The actress changes from a polo shirt to a regular shirt during breaks between scenes; at the beginning of the extra chapter her shirt is lifted and she isn’t wearing a bra; in the middle of the raw images she is wearing one; and by the end she isn’t again, but at that point she’s wearing a regular unbuttoned shirt.
And that’s not even mentioning the fact that Sousuke somehow manages to switch between three different phones over the three chapters of Volume 1, including the extra chapters - one with two cameras, one with three, and one with a single camera.

2. When they confirm that the freelancer Matsuo isn’t involved in Momonga’s content, it’s stated that the footage shows the actor’s body isn’t hairy, whereas Matsuo is heavily covered in body hair. But was the actor ever actually visible in the video?
3. About the mole on the shoulder: according to my translation, it was repeatedly stated that Sousuke saw in the footage that the actress has a mole on her shoulder.
I skimmed through most of the pages and the extra chapters, and I couldn’t find any image of Rika with a mole anywhere except on her face.

(1)In the first chapter she is wearing a bra but in extras she isn't probably because the author didn't want to show the same thing.Maybe at some point she take off her bra which isn't shown in extras.
Yes you are right about the different shirts.Maybe the author didn't remember or changed it just like how he changed tsubasa to a girl from a boy
(2)It was visible to sousuke not to us.Sousuje saw the whole video which was not shown to us so whatever sousuke says we have to believe it.
(3)But in the first chapter after the bath sousuke confirmed that the mole matches.
The Mole wasn't shown on her properly because the author wanted to create a mystery for us to wonder if the woman in the video is Rika or not since the manga only had just begun.

It feels like the artist was rather careless with the details: in one scene the character’s fringe, hairstyle, and its shape change even though the focus is on the face, and they can’t seem to remember what phone the main character uses.
And in the extra chapters, in the first frames, the actress has an extra joint slightly above her wrist.
All of this isn’t related to the script written by MITA, but it’s still jarring to look at.

My japanese is pretty basic( Katakana, hiragana and some furigana, though i'm aware they like to do some wordplay on this).
1 - Probably different videos and/or sloppy changes. The Sousuke's cellphone one is a very good observation, but it could be a sloppy mystake( we see that he didn't change anymore from chapter 2 onwards). I'd argue there was another in the omake just because his phone was thought less than the actual delivery of the cheating scenes;

2 - Probably Momonga has other videos of both of them, so he managed to grasp it from them;

3 - The visual aid we got from the chapter one scene( where he drops the beer) shows the mole on her upper arm's side, in the direction of her armpits. Could be a typo abot her shoulder( or Sousuke expressed it badly);

I've seen people complaining about some typos here and there. Like the most recent where, in some cases, they switched the kanji when talking about Shingo's kid( from otoko to onna), but it seems it's stopping

Regarding the mole on her shoulder.
Rika appears quite often in the manga with her arms exposed - in the bar dress, in the sex scene before the pregnancy - and the mole is nowhere to be seen, even though the mole on her face is present in most cases (though not always, for example in the extra chapter scene where the camera is angled above her as she lowers her mask).
And even during Rika’s last nude scene with the protagonist in the bath, during the trip before her disappearance, the mole on her shoulder is not there.

It's in her upper arm, next to her armpit. Not on the shoulder per see. Chapter 1 shows this( page 16 https://mangadex.org/chapter/3b4edb0f-7653-456d-ba11-5a9cf86e64b8/16), and we see it again in chapter 11. In 51, though, we don't see it. Either the angle did not help, or they forgot to add( haven't read the vol 5 raw, so i don't know if they fixed it there).

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the mole on her upper arm in chapter 11 (in the digital scan version), but on the first two pages (11 chapter) Rika facial mole is missing. I still think all of this is just careless work.

It's in the raws from vol 2. As you mentioned, and out of curiosity, i compared both. In the digital release, it's missing, but they added it in the tankobon/vol 2.

Thanks for the clarification.
I just really enjoy digging into detective details and other little things. It’s a shame it turned out this way in the digital version - I forgot to scroll through the scans, and even there everything isn’t fully complete. Really unfortunate.
It would’ve been very interesting if the author had originally left some hints that could brighten the wait for new chapters, which, unfortunately, are mostly filled with the protagonist’s pain and self-reflection.
Maybe you have some interesting observations that I might have missed?
And could you tell me what extra materials were added in Volume 5?

You're welcome!
And i understand your logic. I've seen it throughout the years. While some of these "slops" may be just that, some may turn out to be plot points, and that would be just like a "cheap surprise" when something we thought was a mystake, turned out to be really important;
Just the shady guy from chapter one, the one that said he finnaly saw Rika's husband. They way he text( Rika, without honorifics) seemed different from the way Shingo or Shiratori( even Matsuo) did it. So someone else was after him since day one, heh;
As for the Vol 5 omake/extras:
After the happening bar, While saying their goodbyes, Akiba-sensei says they should go on a simulation date, to get a little deeper into the mind of an adulterous couple.
They go to a fancy restaurant, and Sousuke begins flattering her, making her blush. Eventually, he ponders that, if he had met her in front of his wife, what sort of future would they have. She says she's happy. Little skip, the date ends, and he goes way, saying they would meet again for the next plan.
In her mind, she says she loves him. She also said that didn't look like a simulation, and his words, his pondering if she would have a place in his life, made her...
Wet. A lot. The narration ended saying she went home to, confusedly, masturbate.

I agree about the messages from the unknown person during the donut event - it’s very similar to the early depictions of Red Lion in Tokyo Neon Scandal, where he’s shown holding a phone with his face obscured (although in that case he was portrayed more clearly, of course).

As I thought, it’s someone from the school itself, though there’s one point I don’t quite understand.
It seems to me that it would actually be quite convenient for the author to disguise a classic villain as a female character in this case - that is, to make the main partner (not necessarily in an affair) a woman whom neither Sosuke nor the reader would pay attention to.

His colleague Terauchi - is he married? Does he have children at this school? How does he know the current interior of the building, and not just what it looked like back when he studied there, for example?

A rather strange difference from the previous work is that in Scandal the theme of crime and punishment is always present, whereas here, despite the protagonist’s stance on the issue of NTR, there is no punishment whatsoever. And the only person who manages to avoid NTR is the villain Shiratori, which certainly raises questions about the author’s future plans for the resolution of the story.

As far as understanding archetypes and tropes, Akiba does not fit into the role of the villain, at least not for now. Rika is the one who fits in this part( villain being the opposite of the hero, creating obstacles and difficulties for the hero).

1 - True, but that can be attributted to other reasons for later.
2 - True, and she started bonding with him. However, views from both of them differ. Akiba wants, at least, an emotional affair with Sousuke.
3 - Not really obsessed, she is sexually frustrated( chapters 2 through 4 explains this). Later on she switches full time with an obsession for Sousuke;
4 - More complicated issue, overall. She doesn't know how deep this whole things go( she saw it a lot of times with various different couples), and who it could damage( families and kids). Besides, if someone discovered it was her, they could go for a revenge.
5 - She did so because of her obsession with Sousuke. Sacrificing herself and all show us more of an emotional depedancy.
6 - Already been pointed out. It could be different things, including herself dealing with what Sousuke will do and( a conjecture) even she being blackmailed by Rika again.
7 - True. I'd even go for obsessed. But him being married, at this point, is amounting to less, since they have proof of the videos Rika did with Shingo.
8 - Really? When that happened? Kinda forgot this one.

As of now, unless the story pull an idiotic excuse( like "it wasn't her, we just made sure that the other person looked like her in minimum details level" and Shingo going with "I said they were my sex videos with her, but it wasn't her at all") we stay with the "facts" that it was Rika in the videos, she did it with Shingo, Shingo didn't deny, and now she's been on the run for 3 weeks.

It seems to me that you could explore this direction.
The idea of having three initially unrelated plotlines that gradually converge by the time of the trip looks interesting - at least that’s how I would have done it if I were the author.

I understand, of course, that the idea that follows would be rather far-fetched and not have much foundation, but still.

1) Rika’s content-production business

Rika works in organizing production, promotion, and producing content.
At the school where her daughter studies there are several people she is involved with in business.

The first is Shiratori. Thanks to Shiratori’s mentoring, Rika achieves good profitability in her business, plus gains access to recommendations that can help her daughter’s future prospects.

The second is Shingo Mori. Through collaborating with him, she gets an opportunity to expand her field of activity, use different filming techniques, and work with various actresses.
As for why Rika chooses him in particular, I would pick this reason: his attractive appearance, which helps him successfully lure other women into this work.
And we already have an example where he practiced this with another woman.

The third is a freelancer whom she lends money to, earning additionally for the development of her business.

2) Shingo Mori’s arc

After meeting Rika, he achieves incredible success in his business, and he constantly has sex with various women.
Rika becomes for him an unattainable ideal - intellectually and in age she is above him.

Even while filming with other women, he never manages to get what he truly wants now: sex with Rika.
So he decides to involve a third person and make her look as close to Rika as possible - the choice falls on the teacher, Megumi.
(Although this part is optional.)

Unexpectedly for him, the new actress begins to bring in quite a good income.
He keeps the best take on an SD card, completely uncensored, for regular self-gratification.

3) The arc of teacher Akiba

Falling under Shingo Mori’s influence, she remains unsatisfied.
Sexually frustrated and clearly mentally unstable, she finds a new outlet for herself: setting up hidden cameras in a school filled with debauchery.
(She installed hidden cameras at the sports festival and recorded Rika and Shiratori’s conversation, so she has both the cameras and experience using them.)

At the time of the manga’s events, she accidentally meets Sosuke - the husband of the woman whose image she has to imitate.
Sosuke is investigating his wife’s infidelity.

Akiba decides that she can finally experience real pleasure if she inserts herself into the situation through Sosuke and exerts influence over Rika’s business and the whole corrupt atmosphere at the school - filming everything and posting text messages in a degrading tone to surpass Rika’s content in popularity.

As the story progresses, Akiba fills the content she releases with sharp, juicy details.
She takes away Shiratori’s ability to give recommendations and appropriates this influence for herself.
One can even imagine that Terauchi’s constant offers to Sosuke at work are directly tied to Akiba’s channel.

4) Regarding Rika’s escape

When returning the SD card, Rika realizes that Sosuke really has been monitoring her actions - something she had not suspected.
Before this, after returning the SD card, Shingo Mori uploaded the bar video.

Meeting Shingo in the corridor and checking the SD card to see what her husband might have been able to view, she discovers that among the original files are images of Shingo kissing someone with a face resembling hers.
She deletes all content connected to herself.

For the rest of the evening, she tries to get Sosuke to talk, but failing that, she stays in the room and waits for him.

At the moment Shingo is defeated, Akiba leaves the location and heads to Rika.
Everything unfolds before Rika in such a way that explaining the situation to Sosuke becomes impossible.
Rika makes an impulsive escape.

All these directions are extremely tentative, but I would really like to see three plotlines that remain not fully connected and each plays its own game.
Within this setup, Sosuke’s story looks like a small boat in a raging sea of truly significant events.
And that would be genuinely interesting, I think.

It would be a real shame if everything ends up being reduced to the banal “one character - Rika - is the villain.”

I haven't read Tokyo Neon Scandal but i will begin shortly, thanks for mentioning it!

I see, and a lot of potential too, just like we have some red herring on the story as of now.

Terauchi is this story( and Sousuke's) call to action. I think the authors know that he's gonna be important, but haven't thought how much yet. Because, him being jealous of Sousuke is one thing, but pointing directly to Momonga is another, very suspicious one.

I've been...around some cheating people myself. Sadly, is inherent to a lot of relationships throught the world, only changing the time of discovery. I think this story's arcs are shaped around crime -> fall -> Catharsis -> Redemption. Though, theres a contrast between the positive character development type( mainly the "bad guys") VS the constant Negative character development arc( mainly Sousuke);

Matsuo Jin became so desperate to pay his debt, he lost sight of important things close to him, mainly his wife. In the end, his lie broke, he understood her importance over his debt, they make up in the closet, and learn to cherish one another.

Kamizaki went so far as to fall for Shiratori's trap, believing it was an "only way". The lie was broken and we later see him trying to move forward with his wife.

Shiratori is a classic case i've seen a lot. Person who cheat doesn't like being cheated on. When he understood the evil he has done, how much damage he did to everyone, including Mitsuzuri, his lie of "not having anything to worry about being discovered" broke and he later try to fix things with her.

Shingo, the most pathetic, believed he was only relevant if being seen by all. His lie that he had "nothing to worry about" and he could keep his image, broke. He saw that not only he wasn't, truly, as "watchable" as he thought, Momonga wasn't failsafe, and he easily lost the attention he so much thought. We don't know how he turned out to be, but i guess Mitsuri is gonna be keeping him in a tighter leash.

On the other hand...

Sousuke has been going through a negative character development arc in a constant, with his lie( that he could catch "the man who stole his wife") putting him in worse places than before.

After Matsuo, he ended up failing to catch her AP( affair partner) but found out she had A LOT of cash, for how much she lended to Matsuo and how she said it "wasn't a problem".

During his meet with Kamizaki's wife, he couldn't get an erection, because of how much stressed and tied to Rika( physically and emotionally) he was.

During Shiratori's confrontation, he found out Rika was the one responsible for the guys thriving success, his "master" in the bussiness.

During the happening bar, he managed to see a side of her that was far from what he envisioned or ever saw.

During the trip, not only did he almost fall for Akiba, Mitsuri's point was proven right: SHE was the one who approached Shingo. This made Sousuke's lie "break" as there was no stealing. And she managed to run from him.

His "new lie"( i presume) is that he can reach Rika if he tries hard enough. But how much damaged he will be until then, that remains to be seen...
