He kinda sucks compared to her, if you look at it objectively. Like, he's less socially competent, he's way worse at cooking, she even beats him at gaming.

It's kinda infuriating how useless he is but ig publishers prefer pathetic virgins since that's their main demographic

Useless is way overstating it. Being less socially competent is fine, it's that age after all. Remember, Miku was less socially competent as a kid too, and Yukiya helped her overcome it. Way worse at cooking? I would be surprised if a boy cooks better than a girl (that's taught by her gran). At least he can chop veggies well enough. And finally, we can also see that he beats her at gaming as well, not simply one-way, so this is just cherry picking.

Our homeboy is a virgin, but he isn't useless nor pathetic. He's reliable, caring, and attentive, and he actually puts in the effort to be a better version of himself. Plus, being a social butterfly is hardly a one-up in any regard.

The only character in my book that's a true pathetic virgin is Kazuya Kinoshita from You-Know-Which-Series. Pure hundreds of chapters of garbage, that shit can't even compare to 10 chapters of this manga.

Using Kazuya as an example is cheating. When I say useless, I mean the fact that he is completely unwilling to reach out to anyone, outside of family and his childhood friend and her family, to the point where he has literally no one to talk to. I can't stand the overuse of the word introvert when what's depicted is not introversion but instead a complete aversion to others. Point is is that saying he's "socially incompetent" is completely understating his character and it hinders my suspension of disbelief that a sociable girl like Miku would be seriously considering dating him as he is
