The problem with these comments is that they don't represent the buying fanbase, they represent online-readers who hate-read.

Volume 4 came out last week, and ranked on Oricon with 10k in said week (And this is missing digital copies). It has been reviewed as equally as the others, and the manga recently crossed the mark of 200k copies in circulation for the first three volumes, which is a very healthy number for a manga of this nature and genre.

So ultimately, people complain online, but the buying fanbase stays as neutral as ever supporting the manga.

I've said it before, but the only way this mangaka changes his formula is that he either gets bored of his own story or people vote with their wallets, and people aren't doing the second thing.

May I ask you, how to see the weekly manga sale of this series on Oricon? Did I have to subscribe to monthly subscription or something?

It's not JUST that Takt is gay and has a politically important family that's trying to keep it quiet. It's that he also needs an heir for some reason. So given his... Condition... His family goes to the only girl he's close to that they can trust and make her an offer she can't refuse (offering to pay off a family debt, or help a sick relative, etc, you know the tropes).

At first she agrees, but then the weight of what they're doing sinks in. And she realizes that the way things are going, her first time will be to create a child in a loveless marriage of convenience. As much as everyone in the comments here calls her a whore for her behavior toward the MC, she realizes she has ACTUALLY sold her body as things stand, and doesn't want her first time to be a reflection of that. She wants her first time to be out of love, perhaps her last taste of a loving physically intimate relationship, before she has to spend the rest of her life cloistered away taking care of a child or children, unable to get away with having an affair anymore once they're married and have a kid.

So though she's not actually physically dying, for all intents and purposes she sees this year as the end of her life and freedom, and is acting out of desperation in response to that, despite being either unwilling or unable to cancel the deal she's made.

Some people said that author himself said that ending will be traumatic. Also this story being excuse to push rapist away, kinda doesn't really fit how he reacted. He wasn't scared of biting more than he can chew, it was more like the story just fucking annoyed him so much he lost the mood even for "rape sex".

This theory could explain her "can't be with you" after MC basically confessed he wants her. But it kinda doesn't really explain the ending being traumatic.

My idea is that she probably has some illness that requires expensive oversea operation or something, and Takt/his family gave her a deal - money, but you become either Takt's wife, or just can't be with MC as a penalty. She wants MC dick, to lose her V-card with the one she loves either before possible death if operation fails, or before she becomes fake wife.

If we assume author is kinda meh, this convoluted story could make the rapist-san annoyed.

Operations failing and Shizuku dying could explain the traumatic ending.

Her just not being able to be with MC cause she is forced to be Takt fake-hide-his-gayness wife wouldn't really explain trauma ending. Maybe if MC finds out Takt is gay and was plotting all the fucking time behind his back, which would ruin their friendship and stuff could be considered traumatic, in the end authors/people in Japan think Rent a GF is a good romance story. Or maybe MC finds out, there is some fight and MC or Shizuku ends dead?

At this point I don't really care for Shizuku/Takt stories. They both are fucked up/retarded, and the stories would probably end up being dry and boring and/or stupid AF. I want to find out if the best "new" girl is the only normal one, without any drama in the past, and if she will end up with MC - as that would be best ending. Thou the second part is probably a "wont happen" if author spoilering the ending is traumatic is a thing, cause MC having a normal cute best GF wouldn't be traumatic even if Takt/Shizuku died in some drama/tragic circumstances.

• "she's getting sex change surgery" so he must wait until it's done healing in a matter of months
• "she has an STD" so he must wait until it's treated, and rapists like him don't like using condoms
• "she's pregnant" so he must wait until she gives birth
• "she's on her period" so he must wait until it's over in a matter of days

I doubt it was something like "she was saving her first time for Riku" or something innocent-sounding, reasons like that will likely just excite rapists like him even more, for the feeling of achieving conquest and getting to be the one to violate and sully a "pure" girl. Anyway, for the nth time, Riku should stop chasing Shizuku when there's Umimi and Yako (best girl) ready and willing to be with him.
