Strange plot, but let's face it, Mangaka's just stretching out the arc. To previous points, Yako still hasn't had her big arc yet (unless the summer work was it).

Criticizing it with "the art is great, but the story..." is just because you want to see a rom-com that fits your preferred development. Why not just let the author draw what they want to draw?

Umimi had been suppressing her feelings of love by framing it as wanting to be family, but seeing the kiss with Shizuku made her realize she truly wants to be his girlfriend—that part was really well done.

I can’t see any necessity for that arc at all.
They’re clearly just making things up as they go, relying on the vibe or quick fixes, which is probably why the story doesn’t progress, feels all over the place, and keeps getting called out.

Umimi's monologue wasn’t necessary. As expected, there was no action from Riku. Riku is like a stuffed animal—he listens to various people talk about various things, but he doesn’t respond. Meanwhile, the ones who talk to him come to their own conclusions.
The reason people say this story doesn’t progress is that the protagonist never takes action on the information or situations given to him. It’s always the people around him who move things forward, while Riku refuses to change, and everything around him resolves itself on its own. As a result, the story resets to square one every time.

Just by reading the synopsis.....don't bother, I can already tell how braindead the story is just off of that alone

Why I have that lingering negative feeling, that Yako was introduced and had her mini-ark of the summer work stuff to be that "contrasting object" kinda thing - to show us how far from sane/normal all other characters are.

Her interest in MC will go nowhere, cause she needs to stay and "contrast" for the rest of the manga plus MC loves Takt to much, then Shizuku, and then he would probably let himself get raped by Umimi before he would switch on his brain and realize how good Yako is compared to the other 3.

I just wish someone could spoil me with what supposed tragic ending there will be, so I could decide to possibly drop this. Thou I won't lie, occasional Yako appearances could keep me reading even if the promised tragic ending would be extremely ass.

Wouldn't surprise me thou if the tragedy was actually a weak one, like Shizuku dying/diagnosed with illness with short life span, or being forced to be Takt wife and MC betrayed/destroyed by it - aka something easy and lame. Or a "fancy" one of MC ending with either of the 3 landmines and Yako "loosing" (cause MC is kinda lame to the point that it is debatable if becoming his girlfriend would be really a win for her).

EDIT after reading the chapter: Hmm - so is page 13 an throwback to the early chapters where MC was ill and we had that "secret" kiss that was drawn in a heavily implying Tack being gay way? This would mean the kissing one was Umimi, thou Takts gayness isn't out of the window fully yet.

First, gal cleaning? WTF? That's wild. Second, I just power read this manga cuz Shizuku drew me in. Yako legit is just a side character. Mangaka doesn't know what to do with her. They wrote her too strong and lost momentum. Shame honestly because she was clearly the best thing till that beach arc.

Shizuku and Manager arc revealed some stuff. I can only guess that she's the one that's sick? Dying? It's a red flag that she got with MC's homie but nothing has happened. Heck, I wouldn't doubt if this is a re-tread of "Your lie in April" just without the music and actually good characters. The manager's reaction kinda gives it away that she's touched in the head and isn't worth the lay, even after she said she would let him smash.

I'm going with that she's dying. Umimi and Yako are just there to move the plot when convenient. It's this triangle that's the main focus. She's dying, Takt knows it and is probably trying to shield his homie.

But the main thing I can agree on with everyone, that secret has been drawn out way too much. It won't have that impact anymore, especially with an MC that doesn't act like a regular teen at that age. If it comes why I drop this, it's him.

Damn dumpster fire Mangas always have a chokehold on me. Domestic Girlfriend was the same way!
