It somehow seems like a teaser for season 2 with that last scene of phone call, especially knowing that there is a time skip of 2 years and his relationship with Umimi is much more like a family now, except that there are barely any materials left. Guess I better wait for that volume 8 before shitt*ng on this ed.

I've only seen 9 pages of it but the bonus chapter continues chapter 72 after Shizuku & Riku's arcade date. More sex and apparently ends with Shizuku leaving Riku while he sleeps and saying goodbye. According to people who've read it there is nothing that concerns chapter 73 so no answers to who's calling Riku.

The cynic in me thinks it's all to get people to buy volume 8. The other part of me thinks the author, in his own misguided way, attempted to make chapter 73 appease as many fans as possible. What I mean is - if a reader was a fan of Umimi you got fed a bit in the fact that she's living with Riku, Shizuku officially handed her Riku and at the end of the chapter Riku "confesses" to Umimi by stating he wants to cook next to her. If a reader was a fan of Yako, you got a bit of her flirting with Riku and her telling Umimi she's going to keep trying for Riku. If a reader was a fan of Shizuku, you get hope that the unknown caller is her and that she lived and maybe her and Riku will have a happy ending. If a reader was a fan of Takt, you get hope that the unknown caller is him and that he's "redeemed" himself and is coming back into Riku's life.

We were joking on the translator's discord that the author's next work is going to be a continuation of this manga and the author is playing some sort of braindead 5D chess.
