Pulling the 'we have finally acknowledged and consummated our feelings for each other, one of us must now disappear without a word for Reasons' bullshit thing along with denying the closure of even finding out if she died is certainly a kind of ending

The guy who read chapter 73 fell off the face of the earth and won't answer anyone on the discord server lol. The last thing he said was that volume 8 comes out on December 12th and that he hopes the bonus chapter is non-stop Shizuku sex scenes.

I'm hoping it's an epilogue chapter
that actually wraps the story up, if what he described in chapter 73 is true.
In Bokugen Translations (is in spanish) you can read that whatever the hell that ending was in full glory.

No seriously, what the hell was that, imagine the special chapter is somehow Shizuku x Takt, they will literally burn the author's house because some are really pissed.

Chapter 73 is out in Bokugen.

Two years have passed since Chapter 72. Riku, Umimi, and Yako are now in college.

In a flashback, it’s revealed that Shizuku disappeared while Riku was asleep, and she’s been missing ever since. Takt is also missing.

In the final part of the chapter, Riku visits the old shack where he used to hang out with Takt and Shizuku. There, he leaves behind his last memories of them and says it’s time to move on. As he’s leaving the shack, he gets a call from an anonymous number, and that’s where it ends.

On the last page, there’s a thank-you message from the author to the readers, saying he’s already working on his next manga.

Insight:

A shitty ending for a shitty manga.

I’ll get the comments later.

Ok finally got to seeing it after fighting Bokugen's ad spam :pout:

Author really dropped all pretense that they gave a shit about this huh.

"Fuck this shit, no one even likes it anyway.

Hello Bad Girl money!!"

Something tells me that the author may be going full scorched earth with their history as a NTR adjacent artist, so they can come off as a wholesome yuri artist for Bad Girl.

this mf, I hope he'll bomb his next work (can't believe that some editor will work with him. Well, I guess getting adapted give some free pass). He just gave the middle finger to everyone.

I will be surprised if they even do another mature story after Bad Girl became their money maker.

I expect the author will now shift to being a more "family friendly" author after Bad Girl's success.

Why go back to this type of mature story which failed?

Can’t see why not. Even in Bad Girl there had been a lot of playful ntr jokes.
Also, unlike that office romance one-shot, the NTR is not even the biggest problem in this. It’s hyping up Shizuku’s secret for too long, and then unable to live up to it.

Considering how chapter 73 ended and as others have mentioned the author's history of NTR I would not be surprised if the content that comes out on December 12th is actually Shizuku/Takt content.

Maybe Shizuku left Riku without saying anything because she still didn't know if she had long left because of her illness, then she found Takt and they both agreed they caused Riku too much pain and decided to have sex.

Or maybe I'm wrong and this could still have a happy ending, maybe after two years Shizuku reunites with Riku but the author said the content that's coming out in December couldn't be shown in the chapter so that's slightly worrying.

Mangaka really said, "fuck this I'll end this crap and focus on my money maker, Bad Girl." The new managa will just be his side job.

I have a feeling the bonus content in Volume 8 will be Riku/Umimi and that will be the author's way of confirming that Riku has moved on since he was so wishy-washy in Chapter 73.

Sure, Riku is now living with Umimi but it's been established that Riku's family practically adopted her and they're attending college together so it's not explicit that they're dating. In the beginning, when Umimi runs into Riku's room to stop Yako, she's wearing sleepwear and is carrying a pillow. This leads me to believe that Riku and Umimi sleep in separate rooms.

Yes, both Yako and Umimi still have romantic feelings for Riku but he doesn't show much reciprocation to ether of them except to blush. If anything, he seems exasperated by their antics, or at least by Yako's.

One guy on the discord said:
If previous covers are anything to go by she's been sending him nudes since high school and been friends with benefits behind Umimi's back all along. Yako is way too comfortable with him for this to be purely platonic
I think he's wrong and that covers shouldn't really be considered canon but whatever.

Also, Shizuku's message to Umimi of "take care of Riku" could be interpreted either platonically or romantically. Also, Riku's admission at the end that he wants to cook by Umimi's side could be one of those wispy Japanese confessions but who knows? It's frustrating to read this.

It's so frustrating to have read this manga hoping to discover what these mysteries were and see if Riku and Shizuku would end up together and then be left with the last few chapters.

Yes, we find out that Shizuku's whole deal was that she was sick (never find out with what) and that she would most likely die (never find out if she lives or dies). We never really get to see Riku's response to this. Did he even find out that Shizuku was sick?! When he finally meets up with Shizuku she never mentions it. Takt never mentioned it to Riku. As far as the reader knows, Riku never found out that Shizuku was potentially dying - he ends up thinking she just ghosted him which is just so cruel on the author's part that I can't quite put it into words.

Also, didn't Shizuku's mom drop a business card from the hospital where Shizuku was going at Riku's feet when he was chasing after Shizuku at their school? Nothing came of that. Riku never went there nor asked anyone about it.

Yes, we find out that Takt was dating her to keep her from Riku and that Takt loved Riku romantically. We never get to see Riku's response to this because Takt never tells him exactly what he did - neither verbally nor in his letter. As far as the reader knows, Riku never found out that Takt had romantic feelings for him and never found out that Takt purposefully dated Shizuku to keep her and Riku from going out.

And after all of that, Riku seems to still have fond memories of his two oldest friends who he doesn't really know lied to him for years. Given what information he got from Takt it makes sense that he still looks back fondly at him as Riku is completely in the dark. However, to still look back fondly at Shizuku who, as far as Riku knows, confessed her mutual love for him and then just fucked off to who knows where is bizarre.

I can't help feeling awful for Riku. He's got fucked over by Takt and never found out about any of that, he lost previous time with Shizuku but doesn't even realize that as he apparently has no clue about her illness and now he has to deal with Umimi and Yako's antics.

Also, I think it's funny that in Chapter 72 that Shizuku gives Riku that little penguin and says to think of it as her and take good care of it and he stuffs it in a box along with a bunch of childhood knickknacks the three of them gathered.

When I translated "Son puras cosas sin sentido." on Google it told me "They're all just nonsense." which made me laugh. However, I figured it wasn't a proper translation given the look on Riku's face so I asked chatGPT and mentioned context and it came up with: "They're just little things that don't really mean anything." which still comes off harsh.

Any of you speak Spanish and can give this gringo a better interpretation?

You have to take Bokugen’s translations with a grain of salt. That’s why I don’t bother making a second-hand translation from them. A more literal translation would be, “These are things that don’t make sense.”

The interpretation is that for most people, the contents of the box really wouldn’t make sense, as they’re just a collection of random objects. But for Riku, they hold meaning because they’re memories of his dear friends. In other words, Riku is trying to emotionally detach himself from what’s inside the box so he can move on, since both Takt and Shizuku are missing.

If the author wanted the end being Riku coming to terms with what happened with Shizuku and Takt and choosing to move on without them and look to Umimi and, less so to Yako, as the future that's fine - I don't agree but that's fine I can live with that...what bothers me is to not even let the reader know what happened to Shizuku. I figure most readers don't care too much about Takt - at least he's shown going off to better himself. Shizuku just vanishes which is just such an odd choice.
