You know...based on what people were saying in the discord I thought the sex scene in 72 would be disappointing but it wasn't horrible. It was sweet in a way, especially when Shizuku said she'd been waiting 9 years. I'm such a sap. I'm going to be devastated if she dies. I just want a happy ending. I'll forget about that POS Takt and all the unanswered questions.

frankly, it was not horrible, more sweet than I thought.

Maybe the author wanted to made it a cute moment instead of a raunchy moment like the delulu scene to make it clear is more grounded. But it lack a bit more meat, especially after the what if with Yako. So I'm not disappointed, just a bit frustrated that author doesn't deliver more.

Now, we just the time skip

Sorry for complaining about the story up until now. Just seeing this development makes all those years of waiting worth it.
No, it absolutely doesn’t.

Since the author has depicted unavoidable NTR in one-shots before, we still can’t let our guard down.
Poor guy. The author completely traumatized him.

ここまでの道のりが長くややこしかった分、このリクと雫のお互いの「好き」が通じ合ったのが感慨深い。

The journey up to this point has been long and complicated, so seeing Riku and Shizuku finally understand each other’s feelings of ‘love’ is truly moving.
So-so.

The recent volumes of Aitsu no Kanojo are as follows: Volume 5 covers Chapters 38–46, Volume 6 covers Chapters 47–55, and Volume 7 covers Chapters 56–64. So, it’s reasonable to assume that Volume 8 will cover Chapters 65–73. The latest chapter is currently 71, so the final chapter is likely 73, leaving 2 chapters remaining.

It’s great that they went all the way until the end, and I really wanted to see that. But there’s way too little explanation…
Has Riku sorted out the fact that Shizuku is dating Takt and that he himself slept with Shizuku?
Even though Takt knew, he disappeared without telling Riku anything, does that just not matter?
I really don’t understand what Riku is thinking…
If they continue not explaining the circumstances, is the next chapter going to be the ‘stay at the hotel and wake up to find Shizuku gone’ scenario?

I'm just glad that the author doesn't tried to stretch the story with more washed up idea.

I want to share My thoughts on "Aitsu no Kanojo"

Why Shizuku Chose Takuto Over Riku:
So, the biggest mystery in the manga — why did Shizuku go out with Takuto instead of Riku, even though she clearly loves Riku? Honestly, it’s just one of those typical Japanese rom-com setups. Shizuku kept waiting for Riku to confess, but he never had the guts to. Time passed, and they got too comfortable with their friendship, especially with Takuto always around. Eventually, Shizuku started thinking maybe Riku didn’t like her that way, just like what she said in chapter 5, which probably pushed her to accept Takuto’s confession, though in reality she just couldn't bring herself to reject Takuto.

Takuto’s Confession & Jealousy:
In my opinion Takuto confessed mainly because he felt jealous and being left out. Riku and Shizuku (mainly Riku) is the only thing that makes him feel like he wasn't alone, but seeing how they were always so close together, he fears of being left out by them, he started feeling so lonely, especially with his family problems at home.
Was he always like this? I don't think so. Because Takuto knew Riku and Shizuku liked each other, he decided to dated Umimi to distract himself. (Umimi also used him to get over Riku), so they were both kind of running away from reality. But in the end their relationship fell apart, and this is the turning point for Takuto, he felt even lonelier. And when he knows Riku and Shizuku still not together, he finally decided to confess to Shizuku. (desperate not to be left alone)

Shizuku & Takuto’s Relationship:
Shizuku who didn’t have the heart to reject Takuto, decided to accepted his feelings. And by the time the main story starts, they’d been dating for almost a year. But here's the thing, honestly in my opinion their relationship always felt shallow, yeah they went on normal dates for time to time (reason Shizuku agrees because she basically just love being spoiled) and yeah they held hands, linked arms and even flirted a bit when they are in front of Riku. but I think is just that. there's no intimacy any further. It’s like Shizuku was just acting like a girlfriend in public. Takuto may had certain privileges as Shizuku’s boyfriend, like being able to walk her home. but I think that’s about it too. Shizuku never invited him inside her house, well maybe sometimes she let him go inside her house but I doubt that she ever invited him to enter her room. Most likely, Takuto only ever walked her to the door, and sometimes maybe he’d run into Shizuku’s mother, who knew that he was Shizuku’s boyfriend. *Shizuku once mentioned in the early chapters that Riku was the only person she’d ever consider inviting for a sleepover.
Even after almost a year being Takuto's girlfriend, Shizuku was still somewhat sweet towards Riku (teasing him and such) and even everyone in their class noticed how close they are as friends. Maybe, in her eyes, Riku was still the most special person of all. And because Riku started calling her “Minase” (because she's now Takuto's girlfriend) Shizuku noticed a small change in their friendship with Riku. That little distance between her and Riku made her think that maybe too intimate with Takuto wasn't fair for him, she tried to be equally care for both of them.

Shizuku’s Secret Illness:
Then comes the big reveal — Shizuku was sick. We never find out what kind of illness it was, but by the time the main story starts, her condition was already serious. She didn’t tell Riku because she didn’t want to make him worry, so she only confided in Takuto — and even then, not the full truth (chapter 67).
She said she’d be getting surgery and then studying abroad — a lie meant to cover everything. Before that, she asked Takuto to make happy memories as a trio with Riku until graduation. It was her way of keeping things the same for a bit longer, even if she knew she didn’t have much time left.

The Complicated Feelings:
So the story begins with Riku dozing off in class and telling Shizuku that he dreamed about her. And that’s the moment Shizuku starts thinking about getting closer to him again. She wants to know for sure, to confirm whether Riku really has the same feelings for her
When Shizuku said things between her and Takuto were getting complicated (chapter 2), she really meant her emotions not the relationship between her and Takuto (at least not yet, not until chapter 16). She basically wanted to get close to Riku again, to confirm how he truly felt about her before it was too late.
Meanwhile, Takuto had no clue what was really going on between them, He only saw Shizuku and Riku growing close again, which again triggered his jealousy. When he saw them walking together in front of him (chapter 16), he seems upset, and Shizuku, realizing it, choose to step back for a bit and went home with him instead. The next chapter shows a hickey on her neck (chapter 17). I think this is Takuto’s desperate attempt to “claim” her. as if to say that she belonged to him and he wouldn’t be left alone as long he has her as his girlfriend.
That’s where I think he might’ve tried to take things further (have s*x) because he was terrified of losing her. But Shizuku off course refused. We already know she wanted her first time to be with Riku. I’m guessing that was the first time she and Takuto had ever gotten that intimate. maybe even their first kiss. Yeah, they’d been dating for a year, but their relationship never really crossed that line.

The “Promise” & What It Really Meant:
After that, Shizuku told Takuto she’d be having surgery soon and wouldn’t be able to do anything more intimate with him (basically saying no s*x). *We know the truth that she actually wanted to save her first time with Riku. (This is backed up by chapter 41, during the beach arc, where she says something similar when she was being forced to have s*x with that beach guy) basically she used the same excuse to avoid that situation.
Takuto agreed to her request. They decided to just enjoy their time together with Riku until graduation. Without realizing it, though, he was actually being manipulated by Shizuku’s request. because it also perfectly aligned with what he wanted too. As long as Riku stayed with the two of them, Takuto didn’t really care about anything else. (This part could also be seen as a proof to the theory that Takuto might have romantic feelings for Riku. For those gay shippers) He believed everything she said, including her promise that they’d “continue from where they left off” after she came back (chapter 64). He didn’t know she hadn’t even had surgery yet, or that she probably wouldn’t survive it.
That’s why Shizuku was so desperate to experience everything she’d missed with Riku up until now— especially wanting to have s*x with him before it was too late.

The End & Aftermath:
In the end, Shizuku transferred schools before graduation. She realized her relationship with Riku would never go beyond what it was. She said she gave up on him, but maybe she just couldn’t handle the pain anymore. That's why she choose to leave him without saying anything.
In the end she thought that if she couldn’t be with Riku, giving herself to Takuto wouldn’t be so bad, at least it's a final act as his girlfriend before leaving for good (chapter 64)
But then later things happened between Takuto and Shizuku on the spot.
Knowing how Shizuku truly felt, Takuto decided to left Shizuku alone, he meets Shizuku's mother and finally learned the truth about Shizuku’s condition from her mother, because of this we saw him hit a breaking point, a moment of real emotional turmoil. As we know, in the following chapter, and then Takuto meets with Riku and tries to explain things and make sense of everything "try to redeem himself for everything that he's done". But in the end, he can only reveal the truth through a letter. (It’s a bit frustrating that he didn’t just tell Riku directly about how serious Shizuku’s condition was, well maybe he thought that, in the end, Riku would find out the truth from Shizuku herself)
And so toward the final act, Riku finally meets Shizuku again. As shown in that scene, they talk about their childhood memories, reminiscing about the time they spent together. Eventually, they both confess their feelings for each other. and the chapter ends with th
em finally having s*x (finally)

So, one chapter left, I can’t really predict how the manga will end, but I hope the final chapter manages to wrap everything up beautifully. At the very least, I want Riku to have a happy ending. even if Shizuku ends dying in the end. Let my man be happy.
Still, deep down, I really wish Shizuku survives and the story ends with her and Riku together, happily ever after maybe even getting married.

So I'll start my response by stating that the way the author wrote Takt is confusing. I honestly believed the author wasn't sure if he was going to make Takt gay or not until near the end. You see snippets of it throughout the story but a lot of it seems more like Takt is just obsessed with Riku - either wanting Riku's life or wanting to be Riku. Takt makes frequent references to how much he wishes Riku's family was his. This all stems from Takt's horrible home life and the fact that Riku is the first person Takt met that treated him like a normal human being and actually called him by name.

That being said, it's 100% clear in Chapter 71 that Takt is romantically in love with Riku so all of his actions now need to be seen in that light.

Also, Shizuku's actions this entire manga are that she's not going to survive her illness regardless of the slight increase to her chances the surgery will provide.

It's revealed in Chapter 67 why Shizuku agreed to go out with Takt. Takt admits he asked Shizuku out knowing she couldn't say no. Both Takt and Shizuku knew that Riku was the glue keeping the group together. Takt knew Shizuku suspected that if she rejected Takt's "confession" that he'd most likely leave the group and she was fearful that Riku would also leave her.

At the time of Takt's confession, Shizuku was already ill and knew her survival rate was low. She was operating under the assumption that she was most likely going to die. She wants what little time she has left to be happy. She's now stuck between a rock and a hard place. If she rejects Takt she breaks up the group and there's a chance she won't get to be with Riku, her only love. If she accepts Takt, she only gets to be with Riku platonically and doesn't get to realize her true love before she most likely dies.

At this point in time, Takt knows nothing about Shizuku's illness. Both Riku and Takt know that Shizuku is more frail than a normal person but that's about it. Takt doesn't have romantic feelings for Shizuku. He asks her out to prevent her and Riku from dating. He's watched them get closer and closer over the years and wants Riku for himself. This is why Takt goes out with any girl that shows interest in Riku. He did the same with Umimi in Chapter 8.

Umimi is trying to get close to Riku and in her messed up head she thinks if she dates Takt, who's like a brother to Riku, she'll be like a sister to him. Takt isn't interested in Umimi UNTIL she mentions Riku talked about him all the time. Takt realizes she's close to Riku so he swoops in to cock block. He even makes Umimi promise not to reveal to Riku that she's dating Takt. Takt eventually dumps Umimi when he sees Shizuku and Riku get too close which is when he swoops in to ask Shizuku out.

Lastly, Shizuku legit thought that Takt had romantic feelings for her when he confessed. It wasn't until much later, Chapter 65 or so, that she realizes that Takt has actually loved Riku and not her this whole time. She's most likely wondering if she's going to ever experience things like dating someone before she dies. She loves Riku but he hasn't confessed to her. So I'm sure part of her reasoning is that she can at least experience dates and small gestures like hand holding with someone who, she thinks, loves her and she can use her illness as an excuse to not do anything sexual.

Yes, Takt feels jealously but it's because he knows Riku loves Shizuku romantically and Takt wants Riku to love him romantically. He's also jealous because he wants Riku all to himself and not share him with Shizuku but he's forced into a friendship role as he knows Riku is heterosexual. I mentioned above as to why Takt actually dated Umimi.

It's never shown when exactly that Shizuku shares more information about her illness with Takt. Both Riku and Takt have known that Shizuku is more frail than normal. We know Shizuku doesn't fully share everything with Takt as he's surprised during his discussion with Shizuku's mom in Chapter 66 & 67.

We know in Chapter 72 that Shizuku and Riku are both virgins when they have sex so we know she wasn't sexually active with Takt. Aside from holding hands, linking arms, casually touching of shoulders and hair, Shizuku and Takt are pretty hands off until a certain point in the story. I think it's a combination of Shizuku not really wanting to take things further because she's not in love with Takt and also Takt not wanting to take things further because he's homosexual. I think earlier chapters confuse this and blur the lines on what Takt wants out of Shizuku as I honestly think the author wasn't sure if Takt was homosexual until fairly late in the story. Also, you can see in Chapter 2 that Shizuku touches Riku the exact same as she would Takt, i.e. linking arms as they walk. So, she most likely considers skinship of that level to be more platonic than romantic as there's never really a point in Shizuku's and Takt's relationship where they get intimate except in two cases which I'll mention below.

I don't think we're ever going to find out what disease she actually has. Shizuku's entire motivation from Chapter 1 until now is to not let anyone close to her, other than her family, know about her illness as she wants her friends spending whatever time she has left being happy and having happy memories. She lets Takt know a little bit about her condition, most likely as a way to keep them from being too intimate. Takt doesn't even learn about the surgery until Chapter 64 - up until that point he just knew Shizuku was transferring schools.

It's not anything that Riku did that prompts Shizuku to get close to him again. It's the fact that she's nearing the end of her illness and her time is limited. She's made the deal with Takt (I'll get into that below) and knows that she cannot break up with Takt so the only option in her mind is to try to seduce Riku so she can have her first time with him before she most likely dies.

I guarantee that up until Chapter 16, it's more than likely that Shizuku and Takt hadn't kissed or gone further. I'll go into more detail in the next section.

Now we get to the promise/deal. We already know the only reason Takt asked Shizuku out was to keep her and Riku from dating. He has no romantic feelings for Shizuku and has no desires for her sexually. In Chapter 16 we see Umimi and Shizuku on either side of Riku teasing him and being intimate while Takt is behind them by himself (literally being left behind). He sees Shizuku casually touching Riku's shoulder and stops walking which Riku notices. Takt says he needs to go and has a weird, insincere, look on his face - weird enough that Umimi, Shizuku and Riku notice and have sweat drops. Takt gives a non verbal motion of his head and Shizuku INSTANTLY knows that Takt doesn't like her touching Riku so she immediately lets go and says she has to go with Takt. Both Umimi and Riku notice something is weird. I 100% think Takt is playing up everything to make Riku think that Shizuku is Takt's - to lay claim to her as you mentioned in your post.

I think that this is the moment that the promise/deal is made. Takt saw how close Shizuku was getting, despite being his girlfriend and took her someplace private to have a talk. He probably told her he thought it was unacceptable how close she was getting to Riku and that she needed to act more like a girlfriend to Takt.

It's at this point that I think Shizuku tells Takt that during their 3rd year of high school she's transferring schools and studying elsewhere. She wants the friendship between the three of them to remain intact so she has nothing but happy memories for the little time she has left. Shizuku most likely tells Takt that if he can keep everything happy and normal that after she transfers schools she'll "be his."

I believe that when Shizuku makes this deal she still thinks Takt has romantic feelings for her. She knows boys want to have sex and she hasn't really done anything other than hold hands with him. She also knows that she's planning to try to seduce Riku and have her first time with him before she transfers. She probably assumes that either she'll be too sick by the time the "be Takt's" part of the promise comes up or assumes that she's have already slept with Riku so it's no big deal to sleep with Takt who she thinks is in love with her.

Takt, on the other hand, couldn't care less about having sex with Shizuku. This promise is great for him. Shizuku has to act like she's in love with Takt (thereby causing Riku to not be as close to Shizuku) and all Takt has to do to keep his end of the bargain is be close with Riku which is all he wants to begin with.

I think it's at this point that Shizuku feels she has to dangle a carrot to Takt so they start making out which is where Shizuku gets her hickey from. Takt forced himself to make out with Shizuku. I think the only reason he did it is so Riku would see it and know that Shizuku was Takt's and not his thereby getting Riku isolated even more. This making out is the "from where we left off that day" that is reference under the bridge in Chapter 64.

Some people, myself included, questioned that if Takt was gay, why's he making out with Shizuku in Chapters 64 & 65? I think Takt did it to lay further claim to Shizuku. Keep in mind that at this point he doesn't know the full extent of what's going on with Shizuku. He still thinks there's a chance she comes back into Riku's life so in a twisted way he wants to taint her by having sex with her - kind of like a "I had her first." Also, he doesn't really do much other than kiss her until he hears her say she loves Riku, something he can't say out loud let alone to himself. I think this causes him to go into the frenzy we see in Chapter 65.

However, he's clearly struggling the entire time to the point that he's crying and Shizuku notices he's been hurting all day and for probably longer than that. As much as I don't like Takt, I don't think he was going to go any further than what he did which was still reprehensible.

I think Shizuku went along with it as she had planned to never see Riku again and I'm sure a small part of her wanted to experience sex before she died even if it's not with her true love.

Shizuku tried her best to seduce Riku without telling him any of the truth. Obviously, Riku is not going to go for it as he doesn't want to betray Takt (and doesn't realize how badly Takt has betrayed not only him but also Shizuku).

I don't think she gave up on Riku - she just ran out of time both with her illness and the promise she made with Takt.

There's only one chapter left and Riku still doesn't know about Shizuku's illness let alone the fact that the odds are bad that she'll survive. Shizuku doesn't know that Takt purposefully asked her out to keep her from Riku. She might suspect given the fact that she learns from Takt that he's in love with Riku.

I'm not sure if one chapter is enough pages to cover everything. I would love to have a happy ending but I can totally see a scene of Riku reading a book to Shizuku's grave as a reference back to Chapter 71.

I agree with most of what you said, but I disagree that Takta's reason for dating Umimi was to keep her away from Riku. Rather, it was an attempt to move on and fall in love with someone else.

In Chapter 13, Umimi asks Takta why he dated her, and he replies that it was because he wanted to fall in love with someone else. He then says that Umimi understands him since she's the same way. Umimi was dating Riku even though she loved Takta. At that point in the story, Umimi wasn't admitting to herself that she loved Riku and was trying to convince herself that she loved Takta.

And in Chapter 53, there's a flashback to when Umimi asked Takta out and he accepted. She asks why he accepted, and he says it's because he's trying to move on. When Takta goes to kiss Umimi she says "Riku-senpai" (damn Umimi) and Takta breaks up with her, it was probably at that moment seeing that the girl he was trying to fall in love with also loved Riku that he saw that there was no way to move forward with his own passion for Riku

Sorry for any spelling mistakes, my English is not very good.

Yeah, it really makes me wonder when the author decided that Takt was homosexual as scenarios like what you described makes it seem like he's at least bisexual or that the author was writing him as heterosexual in the beginning and then decided to make Takt gay to drum up the drama.

There was a scene very early on (Chapter 4 or 6 - I'm too lazy to look it up for certain) where Riku and Takt are naked taking a bath together. Takt acts like there is nothing unusual about this. In another manga if a character is naked alongside their love interest there's at least some blushing or embarrassment happening. Maybe the author just didn't know how to write yaoi. Their other manga Bad Girl deals with yuri (I haven't read it yet so maybe the author can't write yuri either).

I think it makes sense in these scenarios that Takta was planned to be gay from the beginning, since in chapter 13, which is very early in the work, he said he dated Umimi to try to fall in love with someone else, just like she was. Which means that from that chapter onward, the author was already planning Takta's crush on Riku, since this statement shows he never really fell in love with her and was trying to get over another crush, in this case, Riku (at the time of chapter 13, we didn't know who this crush was).

I think Takuta tried to get over Riku by dating Umimi and not another man because he doesn't quite accept that he's gay, as you can see when he freaks out when Shizuku says she knows who he's really in love with. So it's very likely that Takuta's attempt to date Umimi wasn't just to get over Riku, but also to fall in love with a girl, which, as we see, didn't work out.

And in this bath scene, if he blushed, it would be very obvious that he likes Riku, although it couldn't be so obvious, since it's one of the biggest plot twists in the work (along with Shizuko's illness)

I think that Takta was really planned to be gay and in love with Riku from the beginning, so much so that from the beginning of the work this theory of Takta being gay was always very strong, because there were several signs.

I believe that the two main plot twists (Takta being gay and Shizuko having a disease) were planned from the beginning, but it all ended up being crap because the author doesn't know how to write and decided to focus on something completely unrelated instead of the love triangle between Shizuko, Riku and Takta (I love Yako, she's probably the only person who isn't human garbage there, but what the hell is her use in the manga?!)

Someone on the translator's discord just mentioned that the final chapter (#73) is postponed. Chapter 72 will release for free on November 7th on sunday webry and Chapter 73 will release on the app. It was originally supposed to be on October 31st.

Not sure how accurate this information is. There's nothing about it on the author's twitter so who knows.

Didn’t he mention he already finished the draft for final chapter?
Yes, on twitter/X he mentioned he finished it. I got more information out of the guy on discord. He said there was a message on the paid version of the Sunday Webry app that mentioned the last chapter was delayed and coming out on November 7th rather than October 31st. Not sure if the author went back and tweaked some stuff or not.

Author has been trolling (in my opinion) on his twitter/X with one sentence comments about NTR. At first he had a "NTR is good." post then apparently a poll was set up where viewers voted whether or not NTR was good with the majority of them saying no, it's not. Then author followed that up by saying "NTR is not good, I guess." then said "Bad things are good things" and finally, "NTR is great!".

On another note, we get this from the author:

"His girlfriend's favorite count has surpassed 350,000 It's the 3rd highest in Sunday Webry history, and the 1st among works that haven't been adapted into anime...! Thank you so much!"

As well as two songs, "Furi" and "Pretense" that came about from this manga that each have 2 million plays/views.
