This was a simply fun romcom slice of life with a gimmick. The characters are fun and chill yet flat, and the story is as simple as any high school slice of life should be.
Both the characters and story are simple, which I think is okay. Makita is the golden retriever guy, and Oohara is the moody black cat girl. This is a story of fighting fate while enjoying the 2nd year of high school. The only thing that brings any uniqueness to this 2000s-esque romcom is the idea of red threads being real. Simple isn't bad, but some people want more than that. Luckily, that isn't me.
I only have one real issue with the series... and that's its ending. It just kind of... stops? Most series--even the axed ones--would have at least one or two more chapters following up. It felt like the starting line, but it was the finish instead.
7/10 I do recommend this series. It doesn't really mess up horrifically, but it doesn't bring anything too interesting or fresh either. It is a nice comfy series with no real twists, making it comparable to a comfort food. Small smiles and fluffiness abound, which I think everyone needs from time to time.
