I don't know how I'll feel if this ends in a freaking time reset where Soo-won chooses a different path. It would mean Il is the winner between the two, which is frankly the outcome I favour (and Il is arguably winning even now as Soo-won has been unable to break free from Lady Kashi's prophecies). But at the same time, it would feel cheap.

A time reset would invalidate a lot of the story’s themes. The series is at its core about how Yona faces and grows from the tragedy she experiences. Erasing her struggles means trivializing her journey and that would make her story feel pointless.

i love the current timeline, however if i were to choose between smacking some sense to soowoon before he killed Il or not, i'll still choose the former.

p.s. i love heavy stories, but if it's mizuho kusanagi, i'll read any genre she produces.

I have absolutely mixed feelings about this chapter... are we going to get a time travel story now? Which of the three will know what will happen? To be honest, I think that if anyone gets the chance, it will be Hak, even if he doesn't have the information from the diary, for example. Of course it would make more sense with Soo-won, but I don't think the story will work that way.

I personally don't feel this is foreshadowing rewinding time or otherwise including a regression plot. We are too far along into the plot for that to fit well. (Unless it became an epilogue, that would be wild.)

This chapter feels like we're finally getting to see Soo Won reflect and vocalize his regrets - something Yona and Hak did ages ago. No, this is not the first time we've seen him do this, but I'm pretty sure it's the first time he's confided something like this to a related party? I need to go back and re-read this, oof.

Anywho, after all those adrenaline-pumping confrontational chapters, this chapter feels weird. In some ways, it felt like not much happened, and in others it felt like a sudden lull in the storm as if we've entered the eye of the hurricane.

I'm looking forward to the next chapter. :3

Agreed. This is the first time Soo Won seems to have acknowledged that there could've been a different path. Hopefully the three will resolve their grudges and misunderstandings by the end. I still think Soo Won is a terrible person though.

The way Hak's eyes lit up when Soo-Won suggested Yona and the others are likely alive 🫰 The wait is gonna kill me tho.

Yep, totally agreed. Yona of the Dawn has a good shot at being the greatest shoujo manga ever and I hope the creator does not ruin that for a chessy plot twist or weird ending.

Man, Lili is the absolute best. She's changed so much, and I love the woman she's become. She's so grounded and just gets stuff done and sees things as they are and charges forward relentlessly, no matter what she's facing.

Aside from that, I think that rather than signaling a time rewind and alternate future path (I trust the mangaka to not pull that shit), this is about communication finally happening between Hak and Soowon. Soowon knew how Hak and Yona would feel about his betrayal, but he thought they'd never forgive him, that they'd hate everything about him, that they'd one day come for his life, but that didn't matter a) because he was going to die young anyway and b) as long as he managed to get Kouka back on its feet. While Hak probably doesn't forgive Soowon for killing King Il and betraying them, he's communicating that he has always known and had faith in how smart Soowon is. No, that's not enough to repair the bond between them, but it's important for Soowon to know that Hak still has a certain amount of unwavering faith in him, even if it's not the way we normally think of "having faith in someone" (believing in them to do the right thing, usually).

That conversation between them… wanted to smack Soowon when he said he didn’t regret killing the king and he’d do the same things again. Glad Hak called him out. It’s always been fascinating to me how differently Yona/Hak/Soowon view and do things. And compared to the start of the series you can see how they all have come to an understanding about how the others operate and why even if they disagree about the path.
also Shin Ah No1 hater lol who would’ve thought
