Are there no laws there about child neglect? It's insane that those parents would skate by with zero consequences. Now, I understand that it isn't really that kind of manga. But if you're going to introduce such an awful backstory, it should carry some real weight.
Considering what they've shown us,the series itself exists in strange time,no highly advanced tech, but tech that exists squarely the 1950s to 1990s bracket,so theorectically there should be modern laws.
At the same time, she basically ran from home, which is isolated-ish,all the way to Lucas' home, also isolated-ish.
The distance she ran notwithstanding, the only reason they aren't barging down the parents' door is simply due to their own choice.
Unless the next five chapters mention something,it's quite likely those parents won't receive any lawful action against them.
Those parents were so comically evil I have to question whether or not those events actually occurred.
Nevermind an unexpected baby, but booting out a small child old enough to have been on the family register for years? Shouldn't that make the news or cause more than a few issues?
And the same can be said when it comes to family registers and the news,it's entirely possible this world,or at least the nation they're in,is simply a bunch of rural villages spread around the land.
At most,if anyone was around, would be rumours about the child having gone missing, but as Nagi has said just prior to the time skip, the couple themselves are quite likely ostracised locally,so no one else would even bat an eye regarding their child.
Speaking of child,we definitely gotta see how Haru has grown, along with the other characters.
