It's just a cultural thing which perpetuates itself. Having issues calling people something which seems silly to foreigners isn't completely unique to them either. As an example, my grandpa had issues calling people "you" because when he grew up it was considered rude in Swedish society.

Yeah its just of all things to have a hard time with, calling someone by their first name just seem silly🤣
