Even if you look at reproduction patterns in other species, it's far from the case that it's always the biggest, strongest male that gets all the females. This kind of thing varies significantly across different species. In the first place, in many species it's not the male that's the bigger and stronger sex. In some species, weaker males develop other strategies to mate successfully, like stealth or mimicry to bypass alpha males and get access to females. In some species, a small number of males get most reproductions, but it's not based on physical characteristics but rather some kind of skill-based performance. Some species are simply monogamous. With bonobo apes and chimps, everyone mates with everyone in the group, which reduces paternity certainty, so caring for young becomes a shared responsbility and social cohesion improves.

Point being, the thesis presented in this chapter that it's just inevitable biological fact that the male with the right body type gets to mate is pure nonsense. Even with animals, it's way more complicated than that. And with humans, it's infinitely more complex with our abstract thinking, long-term planning and sophisticated social constructs and culture. Physical qualities play a role, but it's only one factor among many.
