I think we need to remember a few facts (I am a MILF lover and do not want this romance)

But the reason we view this kind of romance as wrong now is because
  1. We are living in a society with more options
  2. We know there are too many cases of abuse (not all of the cases are like that)
  3. Men aren't forced to go to war now and women can have kids at a later date
  4. Women now are also expected to work and support the family financially (not just men).
In older society, men had to have enough money to have the right to be married and women had a much harder time getting pregnant later on. So it kinda forced a situation where many men had to marry a much younger woman (in most marriages where there was a similar age, the boy was often from a more well off family)

So a lot of our views about things being wrong is very very new...

So I do think we shouldn't support this... but at the same time, we need to be understanding....

Like, this about how many Shota/Milf stories are written by men and how many teen girl X adult male stories are written by women....

Honestly, when we try to solve problems without understanding, it often makes things worse....

These recent elections in America are proof of that.... the extreme left was just as guilty as the extreme right for the support of the new president....
Cool. But the problem is most stories like this have an aspect of fantasy to them.

If this had that as an actual facet of the world or an attempt of realism then that could be considered but…

Poor boy is still traumatized by his misunderstandings, Grey, you really must make that one on one talk a sooner rather than a later, not that I have faith that Grey won't perpetuate the misunderstandings further through his density 😂

Also hoping not but it is making me increasingly uncomfortable seeing them try to mother role ariamel & all the people assuming her and grey must be a thing when she is literally a small girl...

Like 😩 hire a house keeper or something super daddee so that aria can be a kid properly too.
Yeah, like, being a responsible big sister is one thing, but at the end of the day she’s still a kid. The burden of being a parent shouldn’t be forced on her so soon.

(Eldest daughter classic, but still it’s bad.)

Yeah I hate those and don’t read them.

That's the point. We drop the manga if it gets that point (which probably never will) and find 50 other manga where it's just wholesome plot.

Some comments are overreacting in thinking something dirty and more when the rest us would chill and enjoy the manga for the fun.

The rape is treated like a negative event. Where the fear is Gray/Ariamel would be praised by the story.

Her getting puppy dog eyes for her adoptive father is fine. Them starting a relationship is the uncomfortable part.

It changes the rhythm of the story and some people just want to see a fun adoption story not fantasy land Woody Allen.
That dude explicitly mentioned he would drop the manga if the author was stirring shit. The graphic depiction of a 12 year old getting raped is undoubtedly, "stirring shit", even if it is a what if scenario. I was actually appalled by the surprise panel of it.

I don't personally care much about the course of the relationship between those two in the future and from the looks of things it is not going that way from Gray's perspective.

Saying that "it's okay, rape is a negative thing anwy so that's no biggie. But the relationship between adopted father and adopted daughter turning romantic is highest level of making the reader uncomfortable" is disturbingly tone deaf.

Sadly what happened to her wasn't a what if but the attended plot. Even worse is the fact that the ones she was protecting died too. That, her treatment and then learning she was supposed to be some saint that saves people broke her making her end herself to drag the bastards down with them.

But as you said, if THAT wasn't enough to make someone drop the manga but her possibly developing feelings for her savior/benefactor is... then that person has questionable mindset.

Also I can't remember which manga it was brought up in, but I love the double standards when it comes to this. Change the roles to an adopting mother, mother figure or he'll even step mother and her son developing feelings for her and people won't say a word or even cheer for the MILF. But when it's a girl developing feelings for her father figure oops we have a problem.

Yh but the whole reason we are reading this is because that's not thee actual plot. If it was people wouldn't read it unless like say in goblin slayer it's something the author chose to include as a real event right away so people know going in was going to be a prevalent theme.

If they made Ariemels rape canon I can guarantee you a majority of the readers would drop it Because again, that's the point people don't want it to happen.

As for the mother son stuff, you're putting arguments in peoples mouths a lot of people hate that dynamic too, frankly I've yet to meet or here someone that has a double standard like that.

Again an innocent crush of a girl is fine, the author allowing time skip and letting those feelings take a priority leading to an actual relationship between a grown man and the girl he raised is A creepy and B puts into question his whole motivation for raising her.

If you don't see how that is problematic think of it like this, would you want your son or daughter to date their preschool or middle school teacher?
