I don't know what kind of honkey-ass military author is trying to create, but going against chain of command has always resulted in corporal punishment.

Discipline within a military is serious business. Always has been, always will be. Especially within an system like hereditary absolute monarchy.

I know the author had the desire to show how easily goodwill turns, but this was not the way to try to go about it. Throwing a rock at a general visiting would get a soldier caned at best, executed at worst.

Especially if that general had a connotation for being an absolutist. And even if not; a general that fails to uphold uniform code out of ignorance, is worse that one that violates it intentionally.

I just know that if this was a Korean or Chinese series, this mf's head and his entire family's would be rolling in the ground by now.
And I'm glad it isn't. I've always found those sorts of MCs disgusting. I don't read fiction to see a realistic portrayal of monarchy, aka a leach on society deserving of a good beheading.

You know what? True, KR and CN protagonists can be ridiculously petty sometimes.
