MC is a fool... He himself chose to play the role of the evil prince, but his dad refuse it and want him to change.
I dont get how his dad can be seen as bad, he literaly just arranged a mariage for his son with the girl he love.

I don't think he's doing it maliciously. It seems more like he hates that his son sees himself negatively & has low self esteem that he's using Al's "role" as a means for him to think better about himself. To not focus on his situation but create his own solution to it albeit with unwanted help.
