Why though? I don't think that there was a rule that you can't break the opponents weapon on purpose.

Hell, that William guy brough a freaking great sword, while everyone else had one handed ones, which basically guarantees that he'll break most people's weapons, if they try to parry or block him.

It's also not like she used magic either.
