Thanks for the translation, asphyxiav2!

As someone who's grown tomatoes, the things are temperamental AF, and I would argue a lot of people who dislike tomatoes only had low quality greenhouse grown ones.

It's not realistic to expect dude's dad to be a revolutionary. Just because his values don't align with modern earth values, doesn't mean he's bad.

It's accurate to an extent - even our politicians wear good suits when meeting each other, as it projects their power and authority, and should set the tone of their discussions.
But just like with our politicians, there are limits; like I said, why do they need the mansion? The Best quality meals and drink? Fine art and everything else?

Like I was trying to say; there's little reason for them having a porsche, and yet if nobles such as them existed today, you just know they would have a porsche (and probably a custom made model).
The mansion or castle is the symbol of power and wealth. Usually the guard are stationed there and sometimes will be used as a makeshift fortress. The better your lands are (citizen happiness, better utilities, safety) to more it looks better for traders to invest money.

Lavish meals and drinks are money from tax being returned to the people/traders. The traders will use the money to pay for the land's people salary.

You say there's little reason to have a Porche and you are right and wrong. Buying a Porche from their salary, is fine but embezzlement or bribe is no go. That's why the former lord was stripped of his titles and land.

That is perfect world scenario.

Greedy people will do everything in their power to find loophole in the law and makes it that they benefit the most. Instead of trying to do the impossible, just do what they do. Exploit the law, be greedy. Nobody can really stop you if you getting rich by following and exploit the law.

"We have fancy clothes and receive a good education so that we may trade with other nobles"
"We have a huge mansion and only the best meals so that we may be in fighting shape to trade with other nobles"
"We each receive a Porsche so that... we may travel as quickly as possible to, uh, trade with other nobles?"

Something makes me think his explanation is a bit garbo. :dogkek:
You don't get universal education so that you buy my garbo explanation.

His parents are assholes, I really hate them. No wonder such a sweet girl like Dianna comes out the way she does in the original.

If I recall correctly, the mom is fine, but yeah, the dad has pretty consistently sucked.

Dad isn't wrong.
Dad isn't right either.
Dad never lived as a commoner, and hence can't understand the worries of lower strata.

Son have lived as commoner in previous life
Son lived as noble in this life
I'd say son have more balanced insight.
Son lived as a commoner in his previous life, in a society completely different than this one. That's additional insight, but it's warped insight that's not actually that useful for living in a feudal society, unless Cain's aiming to become king and then upend the entire society instead of living in it.

Cain's dad is right, though idk if a specific event created to listen to citizens is really that much of pandering to them than him just normally interacting with them (though he also does that). Cain knows this too, after all one of the points he brings up to the guy he's talking to here is about how they buy fancy clothes because they need to maintain an air of status for negotiations, so he should understand how appearing more like a commoner is in direct opposition to that as others will see it as a lack of nobility/standing.

They're a Duke family, not a Baron or something. If they wanna use their lofty status to help the common people like he's saying, not schmoozing too much with commoners makes sense. But then again, manga loves the trope of "princess/prince who always sneaks out of the castle to talk to commoners", so it's par for the course even if I don't think it actually makes the most sense.
