Can someone tell me how the "lie detection" work? like, Remi must have not telling her true thought all the time in Angel presence, but he still have this impression she is an innocent angel?

remember that lie detection =/= detecting if someone is saying the entire story. whether something is a lie is just a yes or no answer. not just that, none of what remi says are actual lies. thats why the author always includes remis internal monologue of why it isnt a lie— that she really DOESNT have a past life which is techically true.

i just think its impressive how well remi can in the moment select her words and truths ASAP! bc she basically chooses the right truth to share every time

because that is the only way to have her. if he clear and tell the truth, emi will still married to the prince, hence he will be losing her. he need that annulment to happen so he can get married to emi. yeah it shitty but that the only way, other way is to eloped with her, but he knew emi is too kind and honest for that, it never works. the only mistake is to let emi go, he instead should go straight to emi after annulment event and tell her that he believes in her and support her immediately, tell her he just found the proof or felt weird and tried to reinvestigate and found out emi is innocent. then just eloped with her.

it lose-lose situation and he betting on breaking annulment by acting on believing the slander so he can married to her. damn if he tell the truth and she marries the prince and be damn of being hated for believing the bitch. if Remi didn't resurface, and emi still exist, he got his chances, but alas he didn't knew that emi he love is gone on that moment.
