What's wrong with cousins? Cyril's understanding as to why the prince struggled to get into character would make sense if the prince and Fohl were siblings. However, cousins are not close enough to feel like a family but it is closer than stranger. It's a sweet spot that I think everyone had a crush for their cousin at least once when they were a child. Of course, most first crush wouldn't go for long but that wasn't the point. So, the most likely reason why the prince struggled was because he fell in love so hard on Sophia, not because the prince and Fohl are cousins.
