yeah, most likely she piggybacked the existing spatial "gate", to create the window. with that, the distance traveled is, the lengths between the windows and the screen/camera. only a few meters.

Hmmm. It depends on how alternate dimensions are arranged in this universe, I suppose. In a lot of fiction, it's like taking the same celestial body and just layering different dimensions on top of the same area. If that's the case for this one, then it's "merely" breaking the wall of the literal fourth dimension to be able to see into others.

Think of it like two pictures laid on top of each other. When one is being viewed, you can't see the other, but if you punch a hole in it, you can suddenly see the lower layer.

Now, this may be a whole bunch of nonsense depending on how the mechanics of this universe actually work, but we'll see going forwards.
